ok, its time to get rid of sy being in every game. I am sick of 95% of games with sy on ending up having at least 1 team getting a sy
The initial idea of tweaking caps as i understood it was make them either super powerful/expensive or cheap and weak. What essentially happened was sy was made extremely cheap and only perks made to the ships.
I would like to suggest at least one of the following:
-remove extra payday from sy
-make corvs 3k again
-make light class cost more
-make corvs substantially weaker through either less firepower (example: only load ac turrets or remove prox capability) or hull
We perked it with the intention of seeing it in more games. I think that goal has been far more than achieved. This thread is for discussion of ideas of what to do (again), at a later time we will take the best and put up a poll for what. Personally I would say remove the payday and give corvs ac turrets.

SY IS GHEY

IMO Edmond wrote:QUOTE (Edmond @ Aug 31 2010, 04:20 PM) I think girly's idea is much better, since it is more freeform, only needs to be updated by one person, and maintains the openness of the command channel without the spaminess. Plus it can have ASCII goatse.
I think it's worth noting that gunships are now rarer than ever in SY-on games. If people thought they weren't worth it before, then they certainly aren't going to bother shelling out for the garr upgrade and gunships when they can just pull in one extra miner load and gain access to corvs instead (and then they can use corvs to d while they mine whatever they want, while pulling in SY's boosted paydays on the side). I don't know whether that means SY's been made too good or GS just sucks so much, but it's worth noticing.

I stand by what I said in Nov.

Personally I'm not liking SY as a viable techpath at the moment. The vast majority of the games I've played since CC07 came out involve SY, and in nearly every case the SY team won.
I don't particularly enjoy flying/turretting caps, and I don't really enjoy flying against them.
Turreting is an easy way to rack up kills, but for the majority of the time needs little thought, and is deathly dull after a while. If I wanted to just shoot moving targets all day, I'd have fired up space invaders for a blast.
Flying Capships is slooowww and ponderous, and consists of mostly just manoeuvring to the right position. Moving between sectors etc. is marginally less fun than watching paint dry.
Allegiance is a game of teamwork, and Caps make teamwork a lot easier by their nature, and this detracts from the necessity of teamwork for successful alleg.
Example - How difficult is it normally to get three different people in separate ships to sit on miner D for a while? How difficult is it to get a turreted corv to sit on miner D?
Flying against SY as Tac or Exp is difficult/nigh on impossible at the moment. If a Corv is on Miner D it's incredibly difficult to sneak a miner kill with SFs (which is supposed to be their main purpose) as you will die within seconds of being eyed, and as Gothmog says above Killing a Cap with ints is very difficult at the moment.
I'm not sure fine tuning it will work myself, I prefer the idea of SY as "Unstoppable end game tech if you have more money than god" and would be happy if I never saw them earlier than the hour mark in any game.
i dont feel skycaps are an issue, it is the combination of corvettes being far more bang for your buck than any other ship currently in the sy tree and how cheap they are to get. Their 2 skycap/lt turrets are just as effective as they are on other caps, but now you can payday 1 every 2 minutes, which is in most cases faster than you can get people form up to rush one. They are the best anticap weapon short of skyrips, and better if they have lts because they can outrange and outrun everything else. The other day i watched 3 or 4corvs stop a 6 nan cruiser run where the cruiser had sky 3 to the enemy corvs sky2 (it was a vir v grav game, im sure they can confirm) The end result was the entire run podded with only 1 corv loss.

Yeah, it was a GT battlecruiser that walked into a camp of dreg corvettes. We had 4 corvs out, and the only reason we lost one was because the moron piloting it let the battlecruiser turn and skyripper him down. Had he just broadsided the BC like I told him to we wouldn't have lost a single corvette to that run.
