What if a weapon was made specifically for scouts.
Medium ranged. Longer ranged than gat, but less range than autocannon.
A slightly higher damage output than a gat of the same level. But not as powerful as 2
If not more damage than gat, perhaps significantly higher velocity.
Idea is to have a weapon standard on all scouts that would be great for deprobing and stealth hunting, and have a range advantage over the other ships.
So then it would be like so..
Scout, light weak ship, long range, low damage. (PW Repeater)
Fighter, moderate ship, good range, high damage. (PW Gatling)
Interceptor, heavy ship, short range, very high damage. (PW Mini)
Sniper already kind of fills this long range position, but it's an energy weapon.
Gun unique to the scout?
What? Why should we give scouts a gun that deals more damage than gats?

Stealth Hunting: Gatt + qf, or if you're feeling ballsy, dis + qf.

It just seems like that scout fighter and interceptor should have there own standard offensive weapons.
Yes, nanite is unique to the scout, but in the same way as galvs are and EMP are unique to fighters and interceptors.
Scout would have PW Repeater and Nanite
Fighter would have PW Gatling and Galv
Interceptor would have PW Minigun and EMP cannon

Youre looking at it backwards. Mini is unique to the int. Gat is used by scouts, figs, bbrs, figbees, and patties, its like the universal gun on most sm/med ships.

I like the idea of a longer ranged gun on a scout. I'm thinking a gauss-like thing with comparable damage to gat, useful for deprobing at 1km and whatnot... Maybe even make it a cool damage class since it would obviously be a researchable item, it seems like a good idea... And really anything that makes scouts more useful/effective is A-OK with me, scouts get the ass end of the stick after the first 5 mins (with a few small exceptions like tf and rix, or lxys). I'd absolutely see more things that can help scouts accomplish common roles like deprobing - I'm an avid retro booster enthusiast myself if prox2/3 is available, you feel me?
