I just stumbled upon this idea today...read the Forums threads and WOW This is so cool!

So I have an idea:

This game would rock if there is more to shoot at. And currently we don't get so many Allegiance players at an instance.

So how about we have Bots (Soldier AI) in-game as an option so if we lack players we can add Bots or remove them in-game if necessary! :iluv:

P.S. If this has already been mentioned before then sorry as I haven't got around to read all the threads yet! :ninja:

I think Phoenix on such and such core already has that.

Nah, soldier AI is un-Allegianist! All soldiers must be human players!

How about populating the landscape with a few AI-controlled critters, though? It's a strange alien world, right? Maybe the occasional toothy monster would provide an extra target for players, while mildly threatening both sides in the conflict. It would add to the mood of the game; make game-play more varied; and perhaps killing them might provide some sort of small bonus in one form or another. If it's possible to write an AI script that would make a bot an effective soldier, surely it would be easier to script a bot that merely wanders around the landscape and occasionally attacks whatever is nearby. Given that Allegiance tends to be a bit slower-paced than most shooty games (at least, when there are lulls in the action), surely there'd be enough time for players to appreciate such a detail.

Soldier AIs are just too complicated to consider at the moment because they would require a huge amount of effort to be invested in them and they would always have some flaws or others that people would find out about and exploit (either that or they would be overpowered and impossible to defeat) in either case, there are more important things that need attending.

Haha, sorry for missing you out!

AI controlled critters would be a good idea actually, and would serve for some good environment to make the place seem more created, especially if we invent some comically modelled creatures, but they would be relegated to being coded after we actually get a working version of the game going, which might not even happen now that I think Radruin is AWOL.
