Well why don't we make a weapon that disables a ship/teleport (heavy ion missile?)/alef for like 30 seconds? It doesn't sound to hard to program, just don't allow input from the joystick/keyboard/mouse for ## seconds.

I don't know if this was talked about already, but this could be a good idea (cheaper alef res?) for the next community core.
Or a costly light missle (fighter? SB?) like $1000 -$2000 to disable a outpost for 60 seconds (as in nobody can leave or enter the bace)
I think the above should be ez to program, just change the code so the computer treats the outpost like a rock for 60 seconds.

well those are some ideas, oh and if you cant be nice, don't post.

The way I see it, people should be allowed to have an impact to the situation at all times. Every time anyone does anytihng in there it comes down to skill and luck and nothing else.

You can block an outpost by camping - but the possibility is there to break the camp. You can defend against a bomb or HTT run, you can dogfight if you choose so even in the worst situation.

Disabling player ships like that - in my opinion - negates skill and cheaply so. Disabling outposts and base doors does the same but it negates strategy and tactics as well.


(Mind you, personally I don't like aleph res either for the same reasons)

Why do people insist that things are easy to program when they have no programming experience? And when they also have never seen the alleg code?

People! Assume that things are DIFFICULT to program unless you KNOW otherwise!

I would consider this an anti-cap weapon, with maybe having the shields down and then preventing rip. (doesn't it annoy you when you almst had that 5k cap, but it rips, then comes back and kills everything?) However, preventing docking and launching, stopping weapons, or freezing movement would all be unbalancing, annoying, and as Hermit said, be a cheap way to negate skill.

Doing things like preventing ripcord/lowering speed/lowering RoF could be useful, as it's not making the player completely useless

for get the missile and instead have a new ship (Ion Cannon Cruiser) or something like that. A capital ship Armed with fairly standard and unimpressive turrets but also with a main weapon,(Ion Cannon) that can temporeraly disable the shields and all functions of a base (including the ability to launch ships) or the shields, weapons, missile silos and engines of other capital ships.

......poor sod who would have to program test and implement that ^^ !!
