In several games I've seen vets proffesionally hitting their enemies with DFs. No miss. 100% hits with DFs. Then I tried it for myself and all of them MISSED! How do they do that? Must we lead our reticule? /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

pretty much it.

If you shoot it at someone coming to you/moving away from you, you can hit as long as they aren't moving at too much of an angle. For example, your enemy is flying from your right side to your left side, it wont hit them, because the missile doesn't track enough to catch up. It's mostly about timing your shots, and waiting for a good moment to hit them (if your enemy stalls from changing directions, that can work as well). Or you could just go dreg, and watch as your missiles are magically much better at tracking because of base faction perks (25% more tracking) /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

And what direction is the enemy travelling? If they are moving at 90 degrees from your direction, your pretty much not going to hit no matter what angle you shoot at. This is because even if you fire a good deflection shot with a dumb, its tracking pulls it towards the enemy and then as they fly past it, the dumb does a zigzag and can't turn in time. You'll have a higher chance of hitting them firing blind without targeting the enemy in this situation.

If you are shooting from directly behind or in front, you should hit most of the time if the enemy doesn't use sidethrusters. If they do, then just hope they screw up and attempt to go in the opposite direction just as dumb comes closer or not bother to waste your missiles at all.

Back track and fire, I've always found it makes DFs much more likely to hit.

I will admit to being guilt of doing this to noobs who like to approach head-on. While we're closing, I fire at about 500, and sidethurst below or above, to avoid a collision (sometimes I collide to do damage if my shields are up). The first dumb usually hits, and I use gat1 to finish the deal while taking little to no damage becuase I'm also sidethrusting into tight turns while the noob has no clue.

In my defense, he should have thought better than to engage a scout whose loadout is all probes and tech. It's a bad idea to start anything while scouting and I don't like to waste my initial SRMs on pilots when I can save them to hit a miner and rip before their D comes.

If you're trying to hit a con or a miner and you're close enough, you should try firing straight at their tail. The tracking systems of a DF can keep an eye on it in that case, even if it's going at a 90 degrees angle relative to you. Only problem might be that the DF's timer runs out before he hits the con/miner.
