Imagine that the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter was full of Silicon/Carbon/Uranium/Helium asteroids, and there were hostile beings making bases within the belt.

Now imagine that it was the year 2020 and we had the technology to challenge this force. The goverment designed the ships to be much like those of gigacorp in allegiance.

Would you willingly enlist in a task force to attack this hostile force, or would you not be confident enough in your alleg skills to risk your life? (Yes, you could die in battle before reaching your eject pod, and chances are the enemy will shoot down the pods since KB doesn't make physical sense)

I'd probably enlist if the Earth was in danger, but I wouldn't want to do anything aggressive. I'd be a defending pilot ^^.

Perhaps you could send in requests for IC ints to be designed and built to help the cause /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

provided they stick closely to the allegiance theme such that i control my ship from my computer here on earth via an internet link, and if i loose my ship i can blame lag. then i would sign up.

given how frequently i suicide in allegiance, i probably wouldn't last very long if i was actually in the ship. unless i became more tolerant of pod flights.

Perhaps it would be safer to fly capital ships with nanites on the inside of the ship?

1. It'd have to be fly-by-wire, much like the US spy drones.
2. I'd have to get a stealth fig.
3. This has Quantus written all over it.

I'd go, even if it wasn't fly-by-wire. And yeah, I'd ride Patty on them alien fools, board their capital ships by myself and viciously fight hand to hand with my trusty katana.

So we seem to have an obvious method for staying alive during this battle. Flying by wire, as neotoxing put it, shouldn't be too hard of a technology after some more research.

Here's the question still at hand. Would you be willing to fight and risk being the cause of a mission's failure?

I'd go with you crono if you wanted to board ships. I'm pretty handy with a gun, so I can help take out those lame farcasters/snipers/gunmen on board /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

The only reason a mission would fail would be if you let some of the noobs who play this game join this man's army! I mean sure, you could train a noob but they'd be a trained noob.
