I was wondering how the newest training mission was made possible. Basically I want to know, is it possible to create drones which are nanites, and drones which are bombers just as you build fighter drones in the faction Phoenix?
If so, it could be interesting to create a core made for 1 vs. 1 games. Everything would be very similar to our current cores except instead of having pilots you buy them. Build a nan scouts, find the enemy miners, build a few ints and kill them, assign those nan scouts to your miners along with some ints to take out the enemy stealth fighter drones, all while you buy a bomber (Possibly turreted?) and more nans for a bomb run on their Tac.
Pure conjecture, but is it possible without code changes?
Question on Nanite Training Mission and Potentially a New Core
There are a million obstacles we had to cover in order to get the mission working. Due to the state of Alleg's code, the training mission is pretty much one gigantic hack. The code change that you would need in order to achieve your 1v1 core would be MASSIVE. If you really want more details, I can go dig up my notes from when I was working on the training mission.Bob The Hobo wrote:QUOTE (Bob The Hobo @ May 14 2008, 08:29 PM) <stuff>

I am currently working on a drone-based core along these lines. Other factions are in fact possible (all bombers must use energy based antibase weapons). However, trust me when I say that 1 vs 1 drone only games would be extremely boring. I have attempted a short simulated game and scouting is so boring it makes your brain bleed. If you make all alephs visible at the start it is only a little better. Also, normal bombing is the only end game strategy (without turrets though). HTTing and TPing is impossible (without code changes anyway). Stealth bombing could be possible, but cloaking is not so you'd have to make SBs so naturally stealthy they'd be stupidly uber. So again, normal bombing is the only end-game strategy.Bob The Hobo wrote:QUOTE (Bob The Hobo @ May 14 2008, 08:29 PM) I was wondering how the newest training mission was made possible. That being said, I am still making it. The point of the core is to make late night games more fun (real ppl playing with drone support) and for it to be used as a training tool.

I don't want that time to be a @#(!-storm of hate and schadenfreude.
