What makes DN popular?

What is special about dn_000460 that makes it more popular than the other cores? (Even though it contains the overpowered Phoenix)

It has good icons and it tries to make the factions different but equal.

I think the biggest reason (beside the initial 'PR' campaign) is the extra tech and number of factions.

Sup got toys like hvy boost and XRM
Tac got emp mines and SC towers
SY got corvettes
Quickfires

None of the real main game alternatives have TF or Pheonix. For most of its lifespan, DN has been seen as the core most likely to introduce "new stuff" while maintaining core gameplay.

Most of the alternative cores focus on balancing a subset of pre-existing elements. I think you don't see more people switching over because they feel doing so limits thier options.

Phoenix requires a disgusting amount of money to be used properly. If a team kills all of their miners, phoenix can not win. If a phoenix team attempts cheese tech in a real game, it will get stomped and swept out of the way.

Those are facts of life.

i only added it cos he me pisses off in game, and now he pisses me out of game with his constant "I DEMAND NIX BE MADE TO MY SPECIFICATIONS" thing hes got goin. also, couldnt be bothered goin to a more recent rant about nix
