not quite starbase tech

Ok so there's a whole class of tech that is really useful and people want to buy it but they don't because it is either stuck in starbase and nobody wants to pay to upgrade that or its in an odd place like adv tac and it makes no sense to get adv tac just for that. Examples are: nan2 and seismics.

So here's what I propose: put all this tech in the garrison, but make it so that it doesn't become available until you build a tech base, or maybe get an adv tech base.

That would definitely boost its usage. Really there isn't that much oddball tech. The only things that I can think of are:

Retro Booster
EMP Mines
Seismics
Image

We need an Electronics Base. Stick all the weird crap in there. Think of more weird crap to put in there. Success.

Personally I would like to see seismics improved. I think it would add strategic depth - balance by high unit cost.

Maybe killing rocks should be as easy as killing a base that can build on them, for a similar cost in missiles.

So 500 bucks for a bomber to scour a sector clean of roids? Or did I misunderstand you?

I think what he meant was this:

Outpost costs $5000 and takes 5 ABs to kill (Random numbers pulled out of my ass). So, to kill one generic rock, the Bomber would need to have 5 Seismics, each costing $1000 for a total of $5000

when you they could just build on the rock next to it?

or you could just wait for them to build a base on it and kill it for $500 and have it cost them $5000 instead?

when if ff is on it would be cheaper to build a ref/tele (depending on faction) on it and bomb it...

... why bomb it, you may as well just build refs on every rock if it would cost you $5000 to kill 1, you get that sector super probed that way too.

I never said it was a good idea. I said I thought that was what he was trying to say.

Also, I don't think tech rocks have too much more hit points than a standard rock

i lost a game because i ordered my team to galv a tech rock, it took FOREVER! and there were a decent number of them on it.

i should have just carried on and built something in that sector instead since i was winning anyway.

Yeah, would have taken less time getting them to run AB runs with a bbr.
