Lt ints - standard opening ship

May have been mentioned in the wish list and I also know it's been bandied about before over the years. Just give all factions opening lt ints. At least that way it can still be somewhat fun when the tech base blows up.

I like this idea, but it removes the starting diversity of the factions...

But it will definitely make the opening game more balanced for more factions...

Bad idea for some many reasons, The main being, Rix early game Figs and SR scouts. I luvs rixian early game. Without the early figs, sr's would hardly be worth using :(

Perhaps instead of starting light ints, have them keep light ints after the exp blows up

No thank you! I like the variety. It would be straight-up boring.

If we make all the factions "Fair" by making them exactly the same, nobody is going to play the core. I certainly won't.

Giga with int would make the lee_mazili hvy bomb rush impossible.

Maybe make both basic fighters and lt. ints available?

No.

While it has merit, it also has 2 main problems, first of course being that it waters down faction diversity and opening moves, second and possibly more important is that noobs love missiles, and a lot of noobs will enjoy starting ships diversified as they are in most cores rather than being stuck in an int, also noobs will be more effective (marginally) if they are in a fighter (unless they can aim of course).

Naw, I don't think this is a good idea either. Given the choice right now between figs and ints, it will always be ints except for rix. I can't imagine allowing Giga to start out with ints. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Speaking of Giga, how about just giving them pattys as basic tech and not have to buy it? Just a thought.
