I fly rix rather rarely, and I find it difficult to recall the ranges of the station pods when SB'ing.

As far as I could tell, there is no way to check the ranges while in flight, unlike with missiles. Is this somethign that is easy to change / fix in an update?

basic sbing with station pod 2 with out PW range GA's is around 990m or 960m i believe but also take into count the actual size of the base as the range is taken from the centre so you can drop the pod a couple hundred before that mark depending on the base

that would help a lot of people.

but fyi, their range is 900m GA adds 10% so with range 1 you have 990 and then 1089...

actually, i just looked in ICE, turns out they have a speed of 450 and a lifespan of 2.2 which gives them a range of 990, so range 1 would give you 1089 and range 2 1197.9 . but rix has a faction range bonus of 1.2 (does this not apply to probes?) so their actual ranges are 1188 base, range 1: 1306.8, range 2: 1437.48.

though i could have sworn they had a range of 900 to start with. though for small bases you probably want to be closer anyway, since the spread is so high, most of the shots miss things like GT teles if dropped at max range.

doesn't the pod not shoot if it thinks it's out of range? even if it would actually be able to hit the thing?

Wow, it's even more complex than I thought.

Lucky for me some fellow pilots came up with "about 1200" when I asked, and it worked. Un-eyed.

Don't forget the distance to the base is measured to the center of it or some junk, so range of 900 pod + 300 or so of base walls = 1200

You can always nan a base from out of range because you can hit the nearest wall, same deal.

the probe is actually quite precise, but it won't fire untill it has reached 100/110/120 percent of the default weapon range, regardless of the faction perks (the same way it is measured for your reticle to appear)
Classifiable up to Trolleomorphism.

In the ship loadout screen, it says 1198 with Range2, it has never gone up to 1.4k so I guess the faction bonus doesn't apply. 1.1ish has always worked well for me when SB'ing.
