That article isn't outdated at all, just remove the stuff about portforwarding and it's fine.

Some routers block the ports 2300-2400 by default.

seems a bit outdated.

This message is usually caused by having either Norton Internet Security, Symantec, McAffee as anti-virus

and AVG and Avast with Firewall on Vista as antivirus

yet nowhere on the article does it state that is the problem so there are dozens of posts in the helpline all with the same soloution of get rid of your anti-virus, reboot, here is list of alternative anti-viruses that work.

I've added a bit about Antiviruses not known to work with Alleg. More needs to be done before this article is right though, and I'm off to find a PU game.
