Is there any way to have wide screen resolution (16:9) instead of standard 4:3?
My wide screen 22 inch monitor is a bit distorted and throwing off my shooting.
If there currently isnt, what needs to be done to make it so?
widescreen resolutions?

Correct. Also search the wiki for setting the reg hack. I can't remember the correct value, but double check it in the wiki.
I fly with a 22 inch and have mine at 1280 x 720 too. It seems to work the best all around.

On the 'things to do list', make the hud 'scalable' or at least with a few fixed resolutions that work with higher res.
My system can handle 1600x1200 easily enough but most of the HUD is unreadable unless my nose is 6 inches from the screen. [Note it is not a 'need glasses' issue, things are just too small]. The ship load out falls into the 'too small' category as well as a number of other screens. And at least for me, a 'zoom' mode JUST for the aiming reticule and say 3 inches around it (on a 22 inch monitor) would definitely be helpful for dog fights, i.e. a 'combat HUD configuration' and regular config (with no zoom).
Edit: p.s. This really is not an artwork issue (although new artwork would be needed to support the above). This should have been posted in Helpline or maybe the dev forum.

i actually tried to make a mod to double the size of everything (font, gauges, menus etc) so it can be run at 1600*1200Dogbones wrote:QUOTE (Dogbones @ Jan 4 2008, 08:15 PM) On the 'things to do list', make the hud 'scalable' or at least with a few fixed resolutions that work with higher res.

lots of stuff is hard coded, things like the size of each box to draw the text for the in-flight f4 screen, doubling the font was easy, just the problem was you would usually be missing the end off a word or only have the top left corner of each item in the inventory. though some fonts were hard coded to use the same font as some which weren't good to re-size (the non-inflight screens remained at 800*600 so they needed their font at normal size, but they were hard coded to use the same font as some things in flight...) i asked for that kind of thing to be changed quite a while ago, thread should still be around somewhere either related to a font thread or a X2 gauge thread
Humm, maybe it's a good thing I'm putting the 30" HP monitor on hold for another month or two. Hell, it's $1,200 bucks and that's a bit much right now as I just spent over $2,800 last week on new computer parts and software and $16,000 cash on a laser welder today.
