I've seen more teams fails to stops caps as exp cause no one used minis than I've seen teams fail cause they had no emp.

Buying emps only works if you have many vets and some voobs(Who'll all load emp no matter what you do) or just a few fets(who loads emp) and many clueles newbies who don't even know what EMP is.
If you buy emp, every retard on your team will load them(I used to beleive that it's not how it worked untill proven wrong), and if you have too many of these guys the cap will never die. I used to think that EMP was a good idea too, but in PU games, it's just a double edged sword.
Finally, I'm not sure what the team size were in that game. In the games I'm taking about, there were more than enough ints to stop caps without emps, but in smaller games, you unfortunately need the emp or the shields will never die.
Imo, it would have been better to force everyone who wanted to use emp to call it rather than just booting them. I mean, emp users are often a waste of personel, but having some loading 2 mini/1 emp with an extra minigun in cargo never hurts.

If you suspect someone is going to rush belt caps, either
1) Go sup
2) Go GT exp and get mini-dis before upgrading the exp.
Factoid observed that dis 1 does more damage than mini 2 vs capships. While figs don't have the armor or energy reserves to stand up against a turreted capship, it couldn't hurt to have a couple of dis 1 figs with df pounding on the cap.
