When one commander (in the case where I realized it, blue commander) sets automatic acceptance to the team and the other team does not (this was a typical game), the one (blue) commander will hear the "New player requesting position" sound whenever a player attempts to join the other team after the game begins.
It confused me for a while before I realized it.
edit: and no this wasn't on the beta server

Everyone in the entire game hears that. Blue team, Yellow team, Lobby sitters.
Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.
Yeah, if I'm commanding and accept one player, then hear 10x "New player requesting position", I know it's time to resign.

what i mean is, if i am not a commander, do i really need to hear that a player is requesting a position? if i am a commander, i dont care if someone is requesting a position on the other team; i would care about hearing that the "enemy has reinforcements" more than that "new player requesting position", which makes me check to see who it is talking to.
if i am a player, i would care more about hearing that "reinforcements have arrived" than that a "new player" is requesting a position on a team, which could be mine or the other(s). i couldn't do anything about it anyway, and i wouldn't feel like typing "hey commander check the f6".

Often you have to tell the commander, because he has plenty of stuff to do.wand3rer wrote:QUOTE (wand3rer @ Aug 7 2007, 09:29 AM) i couldn't do anything about it anyway, and i wouldn't feel like typing "hey commander check the f6".
