Hey everyone,
I'm sick to the teeth of having a rank of 14 just because I created my first account a couple of years ago... I've actually only been playing a couple of weeks. The fact that I've gone down to 14 from an initial 15 gives me hope, though. Maybe, with luck, I can get my rank down to where it should be.
My questions:
1. Is it possible for me to lower my rank all the way back down to 0?
2. What would I have to do to make that happen?
3. Is there any way for me to pull this off without affecting my team negatively?
I'm completely serious here. There might be no way to do this, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Why do I care? I feel bad having an inflated rank. That simple. I know that it makes my team "worth" more than it actually is, which messes up stuff like autobalance and ELO calculations. Just as bad, I can't play on a newbie server.
If having my account deleted (And then restarting it) is an option, I'm up for that too.
Thanks!
How to lower your rank
QUOTE 1. Is it possible for me to lower my rank all the way back down to 0?
I want to say no, that the lowest you can go is (8), things have changed a lot recently so I may be wrong.
QUOTE 2. What would I have to do to make that happen?
Lose games.
QUOTE 3. Is there any way for me to pull this off without affecting my team negatively?
Only by constantly joining the team that will lose, in which case statistically they'll start to win.
QUOTE Why do I care? I feel bad having an inflated rank.
It's not inflated, the only difference is that if you were actually a new player who just signed up, your rank would 'appear' to be (0), your actual elo would be the same as now. Your rank will sort itself out.
QUOTE If having my account deleted (And then restarting it) is an option, I'm up for that too.
Only if your computer gets deleted as well.

n.b. I may not see a forum post replied to me or a pm sent to me for weeks and weeks...
I've gone from (0) to (13) with hard work /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> and now I'm suddenly a (3) again /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" /> ...
Well, back to the noob server... Where is the ignition key?
/update
(wrong statement deleted)

I am NOT sure about this, but your rank is your ELO truncated and everyone starts at 1500, even newbies. The issue has been that newbie ranks (#) screw expected outcome because of the discrepancy of their shown ranks and their ELO. If anything, right now your rank reflects more accurately your effect on your team's ELO which, if you care about such things, is important to get correct.
Something related to this just cot changed, so the above may be obsolete.
Im sure no-one really pays attention to ranks at present. Relax.
Butbutbut, the real answer to your question would be to antistack shamelessly. You'll be flying to your limits trying to keep the team afloat and loosing game after game after game. Some of them are bound to count and drop your ELO and consequently, rank. Problem is, the ones you DO win gain you so much ELO they nullify dozens of frustratingly stacked games in one go. Only reason I can come up with my present rank.
Edit: when I started this, there was no reply's

Not to "toot my own horn," but I've been here 7 years and I have a 15 ranks. One higher than Sushi here, who just so happens to be my favorite newbie.
While I hate to use myself as an example, because my own skills are occasionaly questionable, I think 7 year vet > Newbie by more than 1 rank.
Granted, ELO is still "warming up," but how long is this going to take? Ranks are so hit-or-miss on their accuracy, that it's going to take AGES to get anything resembling an actual system that can balance games consistantly.
I hate ELO =(

Bacon, you need to play to get your rank to match your skills. Emphasis on play.Bacon_00 wrote:QUOTE (Bacon_00 @ Feb 17 2007, 04:41 PM) Not to "toot my own horn," but I've been here 7 years and I have a 15 ranks. One higher than Sushi here, who just so happens to be my favorite newbie.
