Greetings,

I often read that some guys miss the time where games where influencing the story of allegiance.
How high are the chances that we can find some interessted writers in our ranks who are able to create a background story for some big game weekend events?
Two skilled commanders, equal teams and the outcome of the game effects the outcome of the story.

In order to get the maximum amount of players for such a 'Story Game' it should be on a Sunday (and if possible with no SGs scheduled for this day).

Not a new idear but I like to know what you guys thing about the possibilty to realize it.

regards

i think the reason most people are on on sundays is because there are squad games then, they are playing those, not regular games.

try saturday instead?

what day is ANL on?

Why don't we include the squads in the story then, and base the story on the outcome of all squadgames?

Tigereye was faster.
If the squads would play in such a 'story game' instead of the regular squadgames it would (hopefully) improve not just the gamesize but its quality.

Does anyone has some links to the old story material?

i thought the idea was to get the whole community together to play a new tourinemnt thing where the outcome of games efffect a story.

if you really wanted you could just bese it on the squad games we have now, but then you are just asking writers to do some work... you could even just filp a coin each week?

Week1: ICs offensive against the hated IC scum was succesful. Glorious IC forces crushed all the opposing IC scum who stood against them.

Week2: IC's IC offensive has been forced to a halt by IC forces defending against the IC incursion.

Of course it depends on the core but IC exp is used far far more often than just about anything else in SGs.

Maybe run something like the YvB games (only we'll have autobalance soon!!) with a com/coms picking a faction each (on a set core, PC2 once Rix gets added maybe) and playing irregular big games fit in around SGs (pick 1 sunday a month, even coms, all who turn up get balanced between the teams).

Could ACS supply coms?

Who would write it? A team of writers would be a good idea probably, with a seperate forum to plan in.

Most importantly, would people be interested in playing it?

I just added something to my last post to make clear what I not mean.
Its also not a fixed idear. Its not necessarily a new game tournament. It doesnt has to be one 'big' story.
So feel free to make suggestions or tell why you think its absoluty impossible or not worth the try.

Resurrecting the YvB series sounds not to bad. Just add some story and maybe everytime a different writer.
(If there are too many - everybody get chance to write something)

The pro's of such a game imho:Big Game Event (says everything)(maybe) some more Atmosphere(maybe) Nice reading material for the Alleg page (for Newbies and Vets)oh and btw: Isn't it possible to create 'scenario maps' ?

ps: why do people allways choose the worst possible interpretation?

so it's more like squad+mercs vs squad+mercs? or even squads+mercs vs squads+mercs?

and why not make it one sunday in a month? SG will not suffer intolerably by that, and we'd get most of the players.

i really like the idea, and if (when) it goes live, i'll be there if i can /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
