Topic/Description says it all really.

I thought of this question, as in my current line of work, I came across "Sleipner" - an off-shore platfrom in the north sea, where the norweigians pump loads & loads of carbon dioxide into underground chambers so they do not have to release it into the athmosphere and thus pay extra "green" taxes. It also serves as a half-way point for the recently-opened Langeld gas pipeline from Norway to the UK. More Information here.

Anyone else know any others? Gery? Mielko? Or did the devs just make these names up?

I think a couple new ones have been added as signs of respect.

Enlil is the name of one of the two Gods who were brothers, sons of Anu. They ruled the Earth back in Sumerian times (well, more like they fought over the Earth against eachother by using human armies to fight the wars for them)

Enki was the other, and there is no sector named for him.

Lee Fierro was the actress in the JAWS movies... she played Mrs. Kintner.

Sleipner is the 8-legged horse of the norse god Odin.

Other mythological references (and there are a few in there) can be looked up here:

From Wikipedia:

"Loviatar (alternative names Loveatar, Lovetar, Lovehetar, Louhetar, and Louhiatar) is a blind daughter of Tuoni, the god of death in Finnish mythology. She was said to be the worst of them all. She was impregnated by wind and gave birth to nine sons, the Nine diseases. She is mentioned in the 45th rune of the Kalevala."

Meesh, not to be confused with Mesh, is/was a punk band.

Miellikki also is a goddess from finnish mythology ( Godess of the woods )

Monmar is a region in Spain i think.

Some1 else google the rest /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

At least one map has names from Isaac Asimov's Foundation Series. (Terminus, Trantor, ...)
