In Savage, people have added the ability for commanders to draw on the mini-map. When the commander has nothing selected, he can use his right-mouse button to draw as he pleases on the mini-map that every player has on his screen. He can even select from an array of colours with a spectrum band selector. This is useful to tell people to go top-left without having to type it in a cluttered chat box and have the message quickly scrolled away. Drawing is basically the same as paint drawing with the pencil tool.

There have been previous talks about giving a special box for the commander to type in messages, more or less replacing the function of the "last order" box (though both could remain).

There can be fear of a commander abusing this and drawing all over his mini-map to make it useless to his pilots. To prevent this, two alternatives:
- The drawing box is entirely separate from the mini-map and becomes its own "terminal" which can be toggled on or off with an F key (god knows we can still spare a few).
- The comm's drawing can be turned on or off with a button on the mini-map similar to the one that now exists to turn on or off the display of sector rock information.

And the direct application to Allegiance:

What do you think?

I'm pretty sure he means F-key, as in Function... but it would most likely end up a bindable key at any rate.

He's talking about the function keys, I think. (f1-f12)
Nans are happy people. They fly around, give out repairs, and overall have a lot of fun. Why are we killing them when we can learn from their example?

On second thought, I loathe my old banner. I want a good one, does that mean I have to work for myself?

Ditto here :-) *thumbs up*

Brainstorm: Mayhap it would be easier to just provide a palette of a few 'well discernable' colours.

Why would a commander draw all over it and abuse it. Then his team can't see where they're going and he'll get mutinied or lose pretty fast /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

It's just that you always have to think ahead of the troublemakers when you're including new features. Of course, in Savage, I've never seen a commander do this during a game.

Now that I think of it, obscenities could be written without control (again, never happened in Savage). @Alleg presence would have to be greater. Great...
