Is there any way to stop people from cheating by modding Allegiance? I've read that someone has all enemy ships appear white to them, someone else has made gat 2 and 3 bullets 1/4 of their original size so they can still see the target whilst firing. God knows what other crap people are pulling to give themselves an unfair advantage. Can't we make everyone play the same Allegiance? or are we just saying, if you can't compete on equal terms, and if you're savvy enough, whatever you can do to improve your chances of winning is OK?

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, will make violent revolution inevitable. John F. Kennedy.
The community needs to decide how to deal with individual or non standard modifcations of the game files. You can surely gain some advantage here. Thats why programs like Punkbuster check the MD5 checksums of gamefiles (and kick you if you altered your files).

I use MP's Gat mods, Gat3 is infinitely better. I wouldn't call it 'cheating', however.
As for making ships completely white, I doubt it would help much. But it's a simple matter of editing the MDLs and filling them in with white. Maybe I should do that...but green would be mauch easier to see. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

This is nothing "official" /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
I use:
Cort UI
Mad's mod for projectiles
Weedman's pointer file
The tiny dot aiming reticle
TE's voicechat pack
Which are all available on our site or the Academy. Or in the creator's blog.
I would love to have a mod changing the color of the green/purple teams to something I can see. Remember, I am partially color blind. /glare.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":glare:" border="0" alt="glare.gif" />
But I do agree with what you are heading towards. And as Cort stated, this sounds like something the Senate does need to address.
"What mods are acceptable?" (My opinion any that are publicly available)
"How do we enforce it?" (checksums would be one way, but a huge pain in the ass for everyone involved. Every core mod, (FAZ code mod?) would have to be done and redone with each release. And then I am assuming hardcoded into ASGS) [disclaimer] I am not a coder, so correct me if I am wrong[/disclaimer]

Always in the Shadows...
I was not aware that our community was quite THAT competitive that having white models would truly make an impressionable difference.
Honestly this is just getting excessive /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Yum
P.S. I'm accepting all challenges to 1v1 DM. Please feel free to PM me in game and let me know if you're interested
I can see this becoming a problem if people were to, say, remove the flashes from running through mines. Making ships white isn't going to help much. Changing the aiming reticule helps a little. Changing the size of Gat3 is pushing it..
Everything I use is standard.

If your going to say that mods are bad... why dont you say that changing your graphics settings is bad
Dont forget to disable software hud too /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> my apostrophe(sp?) key is broken
