Hi, I've been trying to make a lan server with the server files that are downloadable from this site and I need some help. I've managed to start a LAN server via the old method by using allsrv as an exe, but that of course does not give me access to what cores i want (as far as i know) now that agm.exe does not work.
I set the allsrv.exe to a service and got it to run, but my question is how do you make it work for lan?
I also did regsrv32 AGC.dll. I did read somewhere sum1 mentioned that you should run allsrvUI and then destroy the game then restart as a private game but all i get is the create game option and when i press that it tells me i can't start a game while the game server is paused. (sum1 also mentioned that allsrv service and allsrvUI are mutually exclusive, and can't be used together). Is there sum other way to make the service work for lan? I should also mention that I have added the core# and game# keys to the registry and i have tried with ASGS_RANKS_ON set to 1 and 0.
I tried looking for my server via the alleg.exe method (lan games) and via the ASGS method (lobby) but cannot see my games (although i can see the other lobby games). Before you ask I have checked to see if the service is running and it has started (checked in services.msc) and I have also tried running allsrv.exe which gives me the message "trying to run allsrv as a service... bla bla".
Thanks in advance.
Setuping up a LAN server via allsrv service?
Hmm. Everything you are saying sounds right ...
1) What version of Windows are you using?
2) You downloaded the Aug 1 Server Pack?
3) Your firewall and router also has 47564 port open and forwarded?
4) I had problems trying to connect to my own server (I think do to port forwarding). Have you tried from a different PC?
5) Did you check the log in the AllegSrv directory?
If you see Allegience in your list of services then I think the install went fine.

Yeah for some reason we can't seem to recompile AGM.exe to get it to work with our newer releases... we don't know why.
What AGM.exe does, though, is it writes your game settings to a binary value in your registry called "GameSettings"
If you are good with hex, you can scan that value for "static_core" and modify that section to list any core you like (dn_000450).
Be warned though that this is not a supported method of modifying your LAN game settings, and if you goof up you shouldn't come crying here to us /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
A re-install will solve whatever problems you create for yourself with this method.
Good luck,
