Hi All! /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
I am BRAND NEW to this game. Accidentally ran across the old Microsoft site and was intriqued.
I haven't been able to find the info anywhere, so I figured I'd just ask.

Is this game an online only game? Or can you play in stand-alone mode?

I'm currently located in GREENLAND (US Military stationed here).

My wife and I have played several other online games (Ultima Online, Guildwars). We decided to dump the UO accounts when I came over here and, although Guildwars is a great game, I've been looking for a new interest (talking games here).

Any help you could give on stupid questions like mine would be greatly appreciated.

TigerEye's got a nifty WIP (Work in Progress) thread just for that: What Is Allegiance.

Basically, the short answer is: It's primarily an online space combat game, akin to freespace/freelancer, but with a RTS/FPS combination like Savage. There's a single commander, who issues orders to units (other players), and is in charge of the economy/tech tree.

There are little training missions you can play offline, but that's only for familiarization of the controls.

Welcome to Allegiance!

You don't need broadband it play Allegiance. The entire game was optimized for a 56K modem. Now, you may see lag from time to time, but overall it is playable via dial-up.

Play the training missions a few times and if you like it, join one of the game servers. I would strongly suggest you read everything over at http://www.alleg-academy.org/ before playing. That way you will have a familiarity of how the game is played.

I would also suggest joining the Cadet Program if you stick with the game. It's an 8 week self-taught training course that teaches you all the ins, outs, and tricks of the game. I would definitely recommend it. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me through the forum. I would be more than happy to help walk you through a few things or answer any questions.
