It sounds like your .NET installation has become corrupt.

Go into Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs and remove any .NET v1.1 entry...

Microsoft .NET Framework v1.1
Microsoft .NET Framework v1.1 Patch SP1
Microsoft .NET Framework v1.1 Hotfix
etc

Then reboot.

When you're back up, go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download/install them using WindowsUpdate.

That should do it.

Good luck!

There is one problem though, you gotta download and install them manually nowadays, as far as I know.

The links,... damnit, they are not in the knowledge base, they are in the old forum. :(
Gotta search them again. brb

.Net 1.1

Service pack 1 for 1.1 .Net

Hotfix for SP1 for .net 1.1

I will add it to the knowledgebase tomorrow or TE will beat me to it. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

Follow TE's instructions, but download them manually, you will not find them on windowsupdate.com, according to another forum member.

.NET 1.1 and 2.0 are mutually exclusive. You can install both, but you NEED 1.1 to play Allegiance with.

Ok, I still have the same problem, although it might go deeper than i first thought. I cant install the latest updates from microsoft, or my computer will instantly crash. i installed the latest drivers for my graphics card, and ran free-avg (virus scanner) and ad-aware (malware scanner). i re-installed both .net frameworks, and then uninstalled allegiance. I downloaded the latest installer, and it gave me this error message: (http://img277.imageshack.us/img277/8508/errrq2.jpg) I tried re-downloading the installer, it starts downloading at speeds of 1.4+ mbps. (way faster than it should) and then it pauses at about 22.7 mb, and says the download is complete.

not playing allegiance sucks, anyone have any idea what is happenning here? /glare.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":glare:" border="0" alt="glare.gif" />

Try redownloading that installer. It must have become corrupted during download.

If it is too fast, it is using the cached file.
Make sure, that you got enough space on the hard drive.
Install a different browser, if you are using IE. ( http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ ) Try downloading it with that browser.
