When can a commander boot?

I wasn't sure where to put this, so when in doubt, use the general forum. Any how, recently a friend of mine was booted for using the "somebody shoot the commander" voice chat after the commander was yelling to the team after failure on the battlefield(yelling as using caps, and your usaly able to tell when there angry). This being the main server, he wasn't able to rejoin, so he had to sit out for a couple hours. Similar situtations have happened to me also. Where the commander has yelled at the team for maybe not having enough defense on a con. The commander procedes to yell at us, and I would maybe say a few words such as "maybe you should stop yelling at us, and will get things done." as just an example. He would then boot me with out word, or say a few choice words. Some games don't allow joiners to come back in and join the other team, so in this case, you would be stuck out of the game till it ended. This is especialy bad when it's the main server, and worse even if theres no other game to goto. My friend and I have start a bit of a black list of commanders that have angry tempers.

I don't believe the above reasons should be valid for booting someone, especialy on the main server. Is this in the rules? i've read them and I didn't seem to find anything about this.

if someone does not have a newbie tag of (4) or less, then he can be booted for just about anything.

You can always make a 2nd account, which would allow you to come back in.

though, people complain (and then probably wont fly for you again) if you boot them for nothing

there is usually a reason for most boots
e.g. not following orders, breaking rules, spamming chat, insulting ppl or comm

Sassing a commander when he is angry is a good way to get booted. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

As tmc said create a second account and log back in, or alternatively stop poking bears with sticks.
made me laugh, made me cry, made me bitch at people to probe.

It's this simple: 90% of the time, you make the choice to get booted. Don't talk back to the commander and follow his instructions. If you do not do either of these things, you are running the chance of getting booted.

Don't be a smartass and you will be safe.

I only boot people if they REALLY deserve it. For example, I'm really mad at how badly I am commanding and so somebody needs to share the pain, or I am really stinking the place up with a truly awful command job, in that situation I always boot someone to distract attention from my own inadequacies, sort of an "HEY LOOK THERES AN ALBATROSS" yoink. You can sometimes get away with "HE MOVED MY CON" if you don't have too many jobsworths on the team that are prepared to scroll back on the chat.

You are fairly safe to join my team if I am comming agaist Raindog however. I generally win those at a canter.

It is not really a second account, it is just a second callsign. It allows you to log back on and either join the same team (and be quiet) or join the opposing team. Joining the opposing team and using info that you should not otherwise know is frowned upon however (like they are planning a TP2 drop or they are about to HTT your Exp in sector x). Some might say, well that is what the com gets for booting me. But I'd ask all to resist such behavior.

I would also add, "well its stupid a commander should be forced to have players on his team he does not want". He is there to have fun just like everyone else.

The biggest problem is there is usually only enough people on at any given time for one game, so you are kind of stuck, so suck it up, and log back in with a different callsign.

review these items. http://www.freeallegiance.org/forums/index...showtopic=22316 You will see it is pretty wide open.

I tell people it is very simple. "By joining the game, you have agreed to fly for and obey the team commander. His rules"

your military superior has every right to execute you on the spot if you disobey his direct orders, in a state of war/combat.

be happy it's just a ban /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

/no, really - this is a simulation. it simulates combat scenarios in future setting. i can get pretty annoyed by comm's contradictory orders (like: camp aleph, and minute later - defend con - on the other side of the map) when they are given to the whole team, and much more orders would be properly folowed if they were given to a specific targeted group, or individual, than to a whole team, and especially by orders form ppl that aren't commanding, and request stupid things. but hey! it's simulation of combat, with a strong strategy and tactics component, so you really can't be surprised if you get your self booted by disrespecting your superiour./
