Cool game. Steep learning curve, though. Anyway --

Windows Version (and Service Packs): WinMe
Processor Speed: Not sure, it's a Pentium 4, 1.2 I believe.
RAM: 128 MB
Video Card (Make and Model#): NVIDIA TNT2 Model 64
Sound Card (Make and Model#):
Connection Type (Dialup, Cable, DSL, other): cable, shared with several other comps
Modem (Make and Model#): Linksys BEFCMU10
Router (Make and Model#): Linksys WRT54G, once again, shared with other comps
Internet Service Provider(company name): Comcast
Location(State/Province/Locality, and Country): MD, USA

Problem Encountered at Step: gameplay
Which Program (ASGS/Allegiance): Allegiance
What Error Message: --
Comments (What you tried, description, etc): Wacky lag jumping. often times unable to pick up anything, enter alephs or stations, because of lag
from here

QUOTE Verify your port triggering or forwarding rules to ensure both TCP AND UDP communications are allowed
Done. I had both port triggering and port forwarding for a while for the same ports -- could that be the problem?
QUOTE Verify that your devices are not performing any packet inspection on Allegiance's data
Only device between me and the web is the router. I've turned off filtering; I'm wary about turning off the firewall as well.
QUOTE Verify that your computer is not performing any packet inspection on Allegiance's data
Done, doesn't help.
QUOTE Verify that your modem is using Ethernet cabling instead of USB. Replace USB connections with Ethernet ones
Done -- it's ethernet.
QUOTE Try toggling your router /modem's uPNP setting
Done, doesn't help.

I've had good days and bad days -- lately though, it seems like I'm always lagging (except for the two or three seconds immediatly following a lagjump). I've turned down all the graphics (everything short of setting the resolution to 640x480). Oddly enough, the Alt-FF lag number usually doesn't read more than 60, which I understand is playable.

Anyone have other suggestions? :( At the moment, I think it's most likely the lack of RAM and the shared connection.

Try the training mission #6.

If you experience the lag / jumpiness there, (especially at the beginning where the enemy first starts attacking your miner) then it's not "lag" but is actually a common sound stuttering issue.

And if it is that, you can play with the sound settings through directX and ingame. Had the same thing a couple of times, turnd hardware acel off, went away.
