We had three teams on a DM, DN server, Brawl, Devel. off, BETA. 2 went TF, 1 something else. My TF had no guns except for the sfs (that means nothing on scout (it did have nans), fighter, and int. I thought it was just a tech/DM "feature" I didn't know about, until I got killed by the guy in the other TF!
(Hrmm, now that I think about it, he may have been in a sfs when he killed me . . . )
Anyway, we drew and relaunched, all with TF, and same thing, no guns except Sniper 1.
So, having said that, maybe this is in the wrong place. But can someone tell me, has this been this way, or is this a weird bug?
First FAZ--no guns in DN TF 3 team DM

Ok, here it goes:
GT has a default econ (1/1/1) with a 0.8 cost modifier. That alone leads to problems.
Now, someone will no doubt say:
"But they need a pali to up the techbase! That sets them back significantly."
Well, it's nice that you can at least remember what people have been saying and repeat it, but it doesn't entirely hold either. Here's why:
A palisade costs 10k. It is perfectly capable of fufilling an op's functionality - therefore, you can build it in lieu of op #2 (that's 5k off the price tag right there). What that means: to upgrade your techbase, you're paying 20k (listed price) + 5k (that you paid extra on your second op). Which would put you at the default price (25k).
Of course, once you get a second techbase, you're saving 5k (since the pali is already built).
And then let's not forget that a pali:
1) is a garr equivalent in terms of hitpoints and armor class
2) is a garr equivalent in terms of prerequisites
So basically, you're getting a garr+ for half price.
And this is why you should stay out of balance discussions for another year.

RT: The number of typical responses decreases exponentially as the number of joke options increases.
