Weed, can you take a few few pics of the resulting hitboxes while you're at it?Weedman wrote:QUOTE (Weedman @ Feb 24 2011, 01:13 AM) I didn't realize somebody else did dreg models, quiz? My mistake.
Well if nobody objects I would like to do a trial run of dreg and tf with ms auto cvh and maybe some tweaking of guns. Nothing else will be touched if I can help it.
TF and Dreg int scale

The reason this is problematic is because dreg's so goddam powerful on paper. The only reason it wasn't stupidly overpowered before is because the hitboxes were deceptively large. Now that the hitboxes are more reasonable, the rest of the faction's perks are shining through.
The way I see it, we have 3 options:
-Mess with the hitboxes to make it balanced with those faction stats.
-Mess with the faction stats to make it balanced with those hitboxes.
-Enlarge the models further until they're considered just as hittable as the old ships were.

Dreg is gonna see a few nerfs in the next version anyways. Model shenanigans will be addressed in CC13 most likely

actually trying to go through autocvh may be a good thing: if we find out the results are ok for alleg, or maybe just slightly out of the blue, we can always redo it keeping that in mind.
Another thing i'd like to address in this case is something that's been on my mind for a while now that i've restarted playing and i've had a chance to see with my own eyes (it hasn't been marked a lot in the threads i've followed...could have missed some tho) is a certain ship stuttering.
I'll try to be more clear. I've been flying vs dregs yesterday and i noticed the fig and the scout jittered, they would sometime blink to a random direction. At first i thought it could have been a lag accident, but then i noticed the other ships (IC) didn't show the same reaction. After that i spent time doing tests on my own server (that would bring lag issues to 0) and noticed the same effect on other of the new models.
This effectively makes them even harder to hit. Another thing i noticed is this effect (at least to me) seems limited to the closest range (within 200) while it doesn't seem to happen from afar.
I am not sure about why this happens or if it has to do with the hitbox. I'd address the textures but the blinking is in a random direction that usually doesn't follow along the flying path of the ship at all, thus it can't be a chipset lag issue.
For those who are looking to fix these hitboxes, please take this aspect into consideration in those next games you're having. It's important to keep track of what blinks and what doesn't, because it may be something about the hitbox consistancy, which is hard to check but still...
I mean TF's already pumped up, it doesn't need blinking models, and dregs is not very different in that aspect, being speedy, nimble and with a low profile.
PS I forgot to add: i've been inactive for a while and thus i haven't been able to fix the mounts as i was asked to repeatedly. If anyone wants to fix them he's very welcome to, as my spare time isn't as much as it used to be. Moreover i really need more flying hours to know exactly what a good mount (even if an exotic one) would be now, and it even seems some of the oldest mounts (the tf scout i.e.) haven't exported well to alleg and are now eye-level centered, which is basically dumb.
P.P.S. can anyone link or point me to the autocvh? I could do some tries as well, and since most of the work goes around in my laptop i could work on this in my spare time while travelling. Point is i don't have the original tools so all i do is made in blender and ported then through ms3d which always seems to incur in troubles of sort.
Also my 5 cents on dregs: if possible i'd like to preserve dreg's gameplay as it is, even if nerfed i'd prefer the balance to be hit through hittability than too many mods to a faction that, prior to this, used to be a lot of fun to play.

I thought you had the weird intel chipset that caused issues with graphics rain?

Do keep up Das.
Rain found a workaround for his machine.
Aye that's what I was saying, I haven't seen anything like that and if he had the weird chipset it could be the workaround causing troubles

I get the jitter effect when I play Allegance... I always assumed every ship was like thatAdept wrote:QUOTE (Adept @ Feb 24 2011, 11:35 AM) Could still be something odd going on with Rain's machine.
That jitter effect sounds pretty darn weird. Has anybody else noticed such? I haven't noticed anything like that![]()
