I love it when I see @#(! come up about how Cadet used to be better. For those of you who were around to help with training and cadet when BV ran things, and still help around now. You will notice that the course is nearly exactly the same as it used to be, the bits that were changed were changed a LONG time ago when BV/Adam were prepping for Adams takeover.
When Adam took over as ZL, I took over as Cadet Head, the course was ran using all the same material in the same format, literally a $#@!ing copy paste of archived and well written work by advisers or instructors.
Cadet was already split when it was under BVs direction, AFS which is the most recently formed change, was basically a handoff of Cadet-I, while being restructured to be more public.
All of the desicions made, were made by the staff with the Instructors input. Including some Instructors who still have/had a heavy say in the Bygone BV Vs Now debate.
As someone who has been helping out in Cadet for nearly 5 years now, I watched the changes, I made some of them, I ran things for a while. Everything has been done with full consideration of the input that was/is received and advice that was given by the public and the staff.
I really wish people would get their facts straight, instead of saying unfounded drivel following a wagon that is long dead. So there are the facts for you.

lol talk about everyone getting their panties caught up in a bunch..I said I "heard" a lot lately that it is sad and not what it once was and I'm not talking about the material but the advice that was once given compared to now. I have heard comments from cadets of the really @#(!ty advice being given mostly last year. Anyway I have not done it since I started so nevermind, all is fine and dandy as you say. After all we have our very own dome doing it this session as he was just not up to the par of what is expected in XT and he has much to learn from you all!
Never got to experience that pleasure but Shiz's/Drizzo's private cadet > everyone else for meShizoku wrote:QUOTE (Shizoku @ Mar 5 2011, 10:50 AM) Romeo's cadet > everything since.

so, there are some things that need to be clarified here
myself and many of my esteemed colleagues in XT have invested enormous amounts of time over the years in making things better here. Indeed, when Cadet was first constructed, XT was the loudest voice in lending support - and most of the Cadet material used over the years was assembled by members of XT. The majority of ACS material, too, was also assembled (and continues to be assembled) by members of XT. This has stopped not because we simply wish to see you lot squirm and suffer - no, this has stopped because the current management does not seem to value our experience and counsel.
now, a few years back new management took over in many areas - management that wanted to do things a certain way that did not align at all with the way those of us in XT have done things to offer our aid, and I believe things have suffered for it. The playerbase here is the smallest it has been in some many years, there has been a severe lack of progression in gameplay, and I have received and read many, many complaints about the poor quality of the Cadet program from every new member of XT that has gone through it. I even offered my time - as have many, many other members of XT in recent memory - to improve the quality of players that program was turning out, only to be told to $#@! off. So, really, is it any wonder that the only course of action my colleagues can take is to be extremely vocal about the poor state of things given that most of our offers of assistance have been turned away?
We have always been very outspoken against many of the bad ideas that have been implemented - autobalance, anyone? - and it should be no surprise that we are all too happy to do the same now that the quality of things has deteriorated once again. In my experience, there is an attitude among the current community and management not of, "Stop complaining and help make things better," but instead, "Stop complaining and help make things better the way we want you to." Most recent attempts I have seen and have been involved in at improving the quality of things around here outside of the current accepted paradigms have been met with more contempt than even I display to those who incite my ire!
