I've been pushed to command small games recently when ridiculas stacked game going on in main server. Here are the results:

1. I get a headache trying to tell newbies to do something. At the start of the game, I give EVERY waypoints for newbies to goto to find EVERY aleph. And there are ones that goes [delete] every order you give them. refuse to @#$%&* picking up gat 2 when we're belters etc.

2. As Vets join up, who leave from main server, people start yelling at me to do this and that and this and that... and everyone seems to have their own idea of doing things. I can get 0 nans on an bomb run to enemy adv exp, about 2k on the other side of aleph we have an op on. Newbies spam for bomber, vets flying around doing what they think they should be doing = headache

3. I have to go out to hunt a miner that is mining in my op sector, fighting for helium with my miners.

4. Main server game ends, vets leave

5. I get more voobs-know-it-all. Spam for better weapons, ehn fighter when I have lxy stl fig, hunter 3, sig 3 and sniper2. Spam for cap ships etc.

6. Voobs won't do a thing better than newbs. They might be better in dogfighting, but they do not @#*() follow ANY order. I should really start booting voobs who goes `2 to me everytime I tell them to do something.

7. After some hard fought battles (with newbs, while voobs flying around doing nothing that helps), we either win or lose.

8. I had to argue with people about what I did in game. Voob-know-it-all seems to find everything wrong that I did. They think they know everything. (Yah, I suck at command, but stil). IF they think they know what they are doing, they should command instead of pushing me to.

9. Get hated by voob/noobs who think I made them lose. I get a headache from commanding and yelling, everyone on my team blame me for something, even if we win.

10. I relize: I JUST WASTED AN HOUR AND HALF IN MY LIFE JUST TO COMMAND A GAME FOR @^&**() PLAYERS WHO IN TURN YELL AT ME FOR DOING IT.

There, that's the reason I never try to command. I would have gone to ACS, but at this rate my head tells me it's not the best idea. There's more stupility in main server, with very annoying people around. I will never ever command on main server, ever. Unless this player attitude gets better.

But then again I have commanded many more games than both of you combined so it could just be a sheer numbers thing

Absolutely true given your long long time playing and comming spidey. Ive been around for a bit myself there old timer and seen a few things myself but you got seniority on me tbs. [ For the youngins: MrChaos is a guy who played for years when you had to pay for the game to play it AND get stats ] You dont have to be a comm to see the effects of the action though do you?

/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Spidey but it seems to me the effect is inversely proptional to the amount of boots. Also a chronic butt munch doesnt seem to learn a damn thing IMHO. Many times the bootie ( especially if they are said butt munch ) causes so much havoc it's not worth the effort.

To the new guys who "like" comming but have a low number you wont like it much when you get the crap kicked out of you 30 times in a row on the main game. Only "special" personality types are willing to deal with that kind of loving.

Bulls point speaks volumes to me. Im guessing it's not likely to change until you've got more then one QUALITY game going on at the same time.

I believe I may have put words in Lyk's mouth upon reflection. If Ive done so my sincere apologies Lyk.

meh, from a regular com wannabe's perspective, you've just gotta com as much as you can and deal with the stack (ie watching your team with adv tech get outwhored by opponents with enh tech) until one day you develop some sort of reputation as a decent commander through sheer familiarity.

Then you can start playing games with balanced teams and actually have fun.

Of course you're $#@!ed if you somehow get a reputation as a bad com during the initial period, but that's what hiders are for /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I had a thought that I wanted to run by you guys last night.

I was thinking of this issue and what can be done (small changes) that could help and how about limiting VC to the top X ranks (let's say top 5 ranked players on a team) can issues orders using the VC, for everyone else they don't work? Or let the commander enable VC for players through the F6 menu?

The most annoying part of commanding is having noobs and/or vets that are not part of your command structure spamming counter orders.

No one commented on my other post (which I think is a good idead but may not be needed). I can't really see any cons to an idea like this one and the benefits would be a cleaner game since if you see an order come up it from someone who the commander WANTS to give orders.

What do you think?

One problem with limiting orders through VCs might be things like 'need a pickup'.. if you cannot give an "order" like that.. simply because you are a newbie?

Otherwise there are enough people on regularly now, that having a second game, where not so good commanders could try out their skills might be a good idea.. maybe even have a server with that name.. so everyone who goes there knows these are new commanders (of course this might mean, that nobody goes there..); that way if somebody is just there to play a quality game.. they can go to the main server, and hope to get onto a good game..

Thanks man, good point I guess we would need a list of VC that are open (perhaps they open with rank).

i.e. 0-5
- need a pickup
- hold still I got you

5-10
- attack, defend, follow me, escort
- + above

10+
- all VC are open

I can see the need for a few of them for a noob and intermidate and give the vets full access (kind of like leveling /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ).

I still like the idea of the commander enabling VC for certain people and leaving a very basic set (pickups) open to the regular players (i.e. not on the command team) but it is obvious that this is an area that needs improving.

I think rather than that we need to cut down on the vcs in the default cilent to the ones that are needed. Then have a chatpack that adds all the crap you don't need.

Hey IB,

I am more responding to peoples issues, one of them is the excess amount of useless VC from non command people.

I would love to see some command structure put into the game (I know I know vets don't need it, yada yada) but over all the vets are going to be a minority if the community keeps growing and we need better structures in this game to help the vet burn out and noobie cluelessness (is that a word??)

Totally agree with you in general though we could strip out alot of the VC and be better off.
