I don't like the suggestion all that much anymore. Instead of having three buttons on the esc menu, I want to have a "Restore to alternative" button instead. Next to it would be the "Restore to default" button like now. Any objections?Rock wrote:QUOTE (Rock @ Dec 24 2009, 10:11 PM) I am going to suggest the following:
Three keymaps, accessible from in-game. Default, "New" and Custom. Default would be that shipped with this game. New would be whatever keymap some bright guy can come up with. And custom would be your personalized mapping. If you make a change in the Default or New mapping it would save this as the Custom and switch to it. If you revert to default on your custom mappings you will switch to the default mapping. Does this sound good?
I will however, not spend any time finding out what keymap should be used. Someone take up that job. Give me your keymap and I'll get it into R6.
And think of something better than "New" please.
Change the bloody default keymap already

16:00 <+bp|> you can't restore to something you never had to begin with.
16:01 <@Rock[]> ofcourse you can, we just have two default mappings
16:01 <+bp|> you can 'use' it, you can 'apply' it, but not 'restore'
16:01 <@Rock[]> ok
16:01 <@Rock[]> same thing for me
16:02 <+bp|> would a combobox be too difficult to have?
16:02 <+bp|> maybe it would encourage people to submit all kinds of presets <.<
16:05 <+bp|> poor ₡
16:05 <@Rock[]> I don't know how to do those though
16:06 <@Rock[]> but it is doable
16:06 <@Rock[]> if you can send me a plan on how you want it to look, I'll get it done
16:07 <@Rock[]> look = work
16:13 <+bp|> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1164414/Artwork/Al...%20bindings.png
16:15 <+bp|> no need for epic paint skillz0rs there

I think it would be nice if the suggested keymap from the wiki came bundled with the game, but not installed by default. Even if nobody wants to program any specific support for it, it would at least save the extra steps of downloading and unzipping it. Players would instead only have to rename the file and delete the old keymap.
