A comparable game? nope, can't do it, it's still the best and I can't even think of another game like it. There are all kinds of gaming communities on the web these days however. I belong to a few, and all are more friendly than this one. I am speaking strictly from "in-game" experiences only though, I don't spend much time in the Allegiance forums.

Just be a little nicer in the servers and more players will stick around. Count to ten before ripping a new or intermediate player a new one.

You know at first glance it seems like a good thing I like it even. Hell it allows the talent to grow to the level at least they may know some of the basics. Rookies playing along side veteran players causes a lot of the irritation and corresponding silliness.

However keeping them on a separate server means they aren't going to learn much in the way of real skills. An intermediate server is just slicing things finer and finer. So segregate the new players until they reach a certain level then allow them into Gen Pop (jailhouse term for general population) ? Be prepared for some pretty strong opinions and play styles that the Veterans just might like less then the current standard rookie behavior.

I tend to agree with you that we should police the crappiness to a higher level since even those that stay complain about the Alleg lovin.

However I have been listening to the stories from other communities, such as the Halo, and it sounds very similar but definitely with a much nastier edge. Im being to believe that this just might be the best policed and enforced community around these here parts.

It might be the personality type who want the commander seat or just they got the power of the boot but they seem to get more then their fair share of complaints. * shrug *

i don't like two seperate lobbies idea, and neither the idea that noobs of certain # can't join main server. sometimes there are just not enough of us for a decent noob game (but if it's regulated to be enforced only in case of more than (insert number here) noobs online, than ok.

second, if we noobs are held seperate, how do you think we will learn stuff?

third, yes, yelling and other crap is bad, but what is worse is inability to play. like some other day - yellow had 9 players, blue had 8, and noat at least 15. i waited some time to see if any1 will join blue, since i could stack them if i join (but not for much). noone joined. i then tried to join blue, and i was beeing ignored, repeatedly, wich i wouldn't mind if there were other ppl that blue comm would take, so that i could join yellow. so i had to wait for someone to decide joinig blue, to enable me to join yellow.

a day before that similar thing happened (and the blue from the above example ignored another (0) noob too - so it's not personal)

at least the noobists (racists, fascists, noobists /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> ) lost both times.

and the fourth, if we don't feel compelled to do sepukka if we lose, it dosen't mean that we shouldn't play at all. it' a great game, it's better to win than to lose, but if you are loosing it dosen't mean you can't have a great fun struggling /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

I guess I just don't get the situation for current noobs...
See when I was a noob(as opposed to voob) I never got this horrible war crime noob abuse that y'all are always screaming about. Ya I know that the tag means more now then it ever has(time based was a better system) ,but that is no excuse to whine about it.

Really ,because when I was a noob, and there were fewer noobs overall, I played exclusively on the noob servers until I was a 6 and there were always enough for a very pleasing game, it only takes 6 to have a really fun game. I guarantee that during prime times you will have more than enough if you force them all to one server, And any no peak time people would play on "any" servers to maximize the number of players. Besides, I think a smaller environment, that required them to work together to win, would be much better than the main servers where your are usually relegated to minor or support jobs(that you obviously don't seem to appreciate yet).
The "problem" is made worse because of how many of you there really are... It just too much for some to handle when 1/6 of the players on a given team are incapable of doing what would be required of everyone else(is not referring to all noobs.. just most of the more vocal, in game, ones)

I'm Asheron, and saying that there aren't enough newbies to play with themselves together makes me mad.

Well, let this noob(3) kick in some open doors about my experiences with EG. Often I like to play, sometimes I hate it.

1. The lobby is not that important to me. I just want to have a great time playing here. It’s a game not a lifestyle /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

2. It would help this noob(3) if the commanders let me join a team. Some commanders are great and let me benefit by joining. Some are annoying by rejecting all (#) players. How can I have a look and feel of a real combat before investing time at Cadet? Noobs must begin somewhere.

3. It’s not very helpful if Vets try to insult me if I make a mistake. I’m not making mistakes on purpose, it just happens from time to time. Some good Vets help me by giving tips, so I "grow" - many thank /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

4. There aren’t enough players for a “noob only” server, so I’m “forced” to join a “all level” server. Some players think that “all level” means only Vets. If you want to have a “pro” server, create one protected with a password or so.

5. It would be helpful if admins are consequent. From time to time I see players punished for minor reasons. Real @#$%@#s who think they are God are allowed to stay. Get rid of the bullies /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mad:" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

6. I find it very confusing to “follow up” a order, while 10 seconds later I’m ordered to do something different – and this goes on and on and on…

7. If I’m podded I can’t distroy a carrier, so please don’t ask me to.

8. I'm not a native English player. Yes, I make grammar errors. No, I don't understand "slang".

8. If you scare me away, there will be one player less in the comunity. How do you want to grow?

Hey Peet. Ive seen you a few times playing. I've just finished the cadet course and trust me it will give you all the knowledge you will need to be an effective player. Im glad your sticking around. People do tend to get frustrated when you play a game and someone isnt doing what u want them to do. Just always follow what your commander wants you to do. Other people may give you an order if they are podded and they want picked up. So watch for people who are in your team who are podded in the same sector as you.

Im sure you will do great Peet, and hang in there.

look, i live in croatia. it's 7 hours difference than most of alleg players (i'm GMT +1). so i usually can't play in prime hours, because i have to sleep, live, work, study, etc.

and it's hard to force ppl to move from a very populated server.

and my usual job is probing, turreting, probing, D, and occasional probe picking, so i like the support jobs, because they don't require dogfight skills that i still lack, but i can still contribute to my team.

and yes, small team enforces more cohesive team play, so i'm all for obligatory noob games, if the nubers suffice.
