Okay, so my lack of sports knowledge shows through. Nonetheless, I still don't equate pick-up games with pro or college sports.

Yay! I stole the thread!

QUOTE Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and turn and dream
of what I need

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life[/quote]

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

The problem with bitching at others is:

1. When your wrong, and you will be, then your nothing more then a loud mouth @#$%@#
2. Who the $#@! do you think you are to consider it's OK to bitch at people for making mistakes in game
3. It encourages the great unwashed to imitate the big boys and they start spouting totally moronic crap

We already have way to much of number three and anything that happens to increase the already mind numbing amounts of misinformation and holier-then-thou bleating is going to send me into a baby punching rampage.

Your experience with how you were coached in littlle league, high school or whatever means @#(! in how to effectively command a team in Allegiance so save it. Im all for someone getting the commander's back during a game to organize the bomber runs, galv parties, aleph camping etc. It's called working together and essential to winning. Questioning the commanders every move, bitching about things on team or all chat is just a plain total @#(!head move, and honestly the team is better off with you in NOAT.

MrChaos says, " $#@! off with the inflated egos, $#@! off with your endless bitching, $#@! off with your trying to be a hero, STFU, listen to the commander, and stop working against the team "

My midget league football coach was a hard ass. Yelled at us kids constantly. We never lost a game. Now that I think about it, the coaches that were the most brutal in practice all the way up through my college playing were usually the best ones.
