Just wondering, might be worth a try to give adv miner a weak turret? Should be an interesting concept to try and will give a slight advanatage in getting them. *(pros : better sf defence, cons : a player is stuck in a miner (even if he will eject he has to walk back to base), player cannot defend a set of miners). And is in the philosophy of the faction.

You cannot put turrets on drones.

Yeah. Drones don't use turrets, and the people can't get on them even if they do have them

Too bad. That would add all sorts of comedic opportunities... especially when the miners all decide to fly through the enemy's home sector. WHERE ARE YOU GOING? AHHHHHHH!

How difficult of a code change would it be to have drone turrets and missiles anways?

It's not impossible...it'd just be very time consuming for something that may be too cheesey and/or unbalanceable.

Just had a thought (this isn't a serious suggestion, more a thought experiment).
It could be possible to give a hive-miner an unmanned turret that works like a tower. Sounds rather amusing, as long as it wouldn't be too powerful.

Other miners get things such as a small ripcord, or the abilty to ripcord... dont see what would be wrong with a turret. Wouldn't have to be a strong one, but would be enough to keep a scout at bay or assist defenders somewhat by shooting missiles as well
