apochboi wrote:QUOTE (apochboi @ May 4 2009, 02:58 PM) TF have lead indicators because they are meant to be AI, computers you know. Thats the main reason for TF having them. They arent game breaking, and they arent very accurate. So why bother about them seriously.
Modern fighters have had far more sophisticated lead indicators for quite some time. why doesnt everyone have them then? Humans can't mount computers in their ships?
Also how can you say they arent very accurate? They are as good as any other lead indicator in game. Also you have never seen a fb run get utterly annihilated by tf sup or exp where every other faction the base would end up dead. Considering you removed the brute force ending for sup with xrm, you made them rely on smaller, faster, far weaker craft to end the game. Because every noob/voob in the game gets perfect accuracy with their guns fbs evaporate because they are slow as $#@! and weak. So they WERENT necessarily as big a problem until you nerfed xrm to $#@! without the consent of the community

Buyo wrote:QUOTE (Buyo @ May 4 2009, 07:18 PM) Why did you remove the poll, are we gonna start again with the apochiboi core? It wasn't for you or me, it was for the whole CC team so it could see how the community (as in COMMUNITY core) feels about this.

There is nothing wrong with someone making a poll
Buyo, I made a poll that was closed and I'm fine with him taking it down. My understanding of how it is/will/should work:

- Community should discuss like we are here in this thread
- CC peeps will take the "best" or most applicable ideas, pose them to the community via a poll

Everyone making their own poll just adds to the confusion/static. Apoch is trying to bring some direction back to this process, and I think it must feel like herding cats at this point.

The community core forums are here for discussions. As the discussion's progresses most people come to a number of conclusion. The development team (us) Will then run a poll to see which of these conclusions the majority of the community agree with. It isnt your place to run a poll on a topic which hasnt been discussed. Removing the poll from this thread has changed this into a discussion. Now we can see what conclusions can be deduced before we go into polling of an action.

I hope this clears it up for you a bit.

Edit: I removed irrelevant posts.

Damn, I was interested in seeing the result of that poll.

Buyo is not making any friends with the way he writes his argument for this, but I still think he has a point. I do understand the "TF are machines, so they need to be accurate" but I strongly dislike the results in actual games with TF.

I suppose all the pro / con argument here have pretty much been made. As the poll was removed this will probably have to wait until at least the next round of updates. That is cool, it's not like we are in a desperate hurry, and it's not good to change too many things at once.

PS. I for one haven't missed XRM at all. I've even seen the double nerfed XRM used a few times quite successfully.

Just saw another "miraculous" comeback with TF hvy ints, granted they were highly stacked but still, they had no tech vs belters sup plus SY... all hail lead indicators! Once they got them, it was over =/

I'd say it was more attributed to the 17mini3 hvy ints camping your base than anything else... perhaps the fact you only had enh figs as well.

I think the game is great as it is. Balance should not equal every faction being exactly the same and hence boring. TF lead indicators arent that much an issue, after all TF is slow. Difference is good as long as they're balanced.

I like the CC changes but surely it has to stop at some point. More factions would be awesome but understand predefinitions is an issue currently.

Well, I think it's not lead indicator fault that you lost that game, it is YOUR TEAM fault for not being able to finish it....

as much as im for removing them the game buyo refers to was NOT won because of lead indicators
