And everything discussed so far has already been discussed every other time someone brings up Dis in a discussion. Everyone knows Dis 3 has very limited options for use, especially since removing AoE nerfed it's easy aim capabilities for dogfighting (at least everyone who was actually around for that time).
As i basically see it, this entire discussion has almost no point then repeating the same thing, it hasn't really added anything new, not even a proposal to tweak Dis 3. (unless i missed something somewhere in this topic that wasn't a generalized statement)

Well ideally if people could use Dis3 well then it'd be good for defending against Ints in much the same way as QF3 is. Who says it's for offence? It's like Pulse Lasers...good against ints but mainly used in a defensive role.
I wouldn't buy Dis3 unless the enemy had Caps or they were Giga anyway. Gat is generally more versatile so why bother spending another 2500. I'm against the whole idea of pimping Figs in general, 95% of the time you're still going to get whored, TP2 and endgame tech is a much better way to spend your money. If I wanted to mindlessly whore...I'd fly Exp.
Finally I have no idea how this turned into a discussion. Gooey answered the OP with the first reply, everything else afterwards (besides my biting sarcasm) was redundant. I'm not sure where HSharp learnt Reading Comprehension (Ye Olde Englishe Skoole probably) but the whole point of this thread WASN'T whether Dis3 was a viable option. The title of this thread is simply "Dis3", not "Should commanders buy Dis3?". The OP just asked a simple question about an in-game item description, but you all had to turn it into a frickin' discussion, DIDN'T YOU?

3 x Dis3 = 16.67 secs, until you run out of energy (you only doing half damage while energy is out)
3 x Gat3 = 30 secs, until reload

If it counts for anything, I wrote the title for this thread, and the original post too even! This thread was addressed at the in-game description for Dis3, not towards its viability during dogfighting.

HSharp wrote:QUOTE (HSharp @ Dec 15 2008, 11:49 AM) Nope your wrong. It's a good way to fight
int not
ints. You will easily run out of energy and then be a sitting duck.
It's no suprise you prefer Dis + Galv's anyway Adept but you have to realise that just relying on renewable resources really slows down efficiency
HAHA QFT
I must agree with HSharp adept, in that massive BIOS vs RIX game, if I was trying to use galv + dis against the many many many hvy rix ints that were flying my way I wouldn't have been able to kill anywhere near as many...

For starters we could look at changing the description.
But I have to say, I've never bought dis 3 as a commander except once against Giga and once against battleships, both games I mutinied some noob commander who let the game get that far.
I think dis 3 and galv should be rolled into one tech, or that dis 3 should get its aoe back.

How about a smaller area of effect? Maybe instead of 10 make it 3?
