Elite: Dangerous
1.2 update is coming in a few days (or a week, if it needs a 2nd week of beta). It brings the Core Dynamics Vulture, which is a 2-seater heavy fighter. Two large hard points (class 3) and the sort of speed and agility that you just know will require the nerf bat later. If you want a dedicated combat ship, that's the one to get.Deathrender wrote:QUOTE (Deathrender @ Mar 6 2015, 05:37 PM) Now, where do I go from the Viper?
I have an Adder sitting on the side for mining purposes, but I don't know what combat ship I should get next.
Anyone have any particular "favorite spots" they stick around to? I just packed up from the starting area and went to the Empire sectors to check them out. Trying to find a new home.
The Asp is a larger multirole craft with good firepower and durability, but it doesn't have the speed and agility of the Viper. In it's own class, the Viper is as good as it gets for now.
For bigger ships, there is the multirole Python, the massive and powerful Anaconda, and with the 1.2, the Fer de Lance.

I've been flying my fully pimped viper for a while, but it seems the gap to anything better for fighting is way too big. Camping nav points gives maybe 200k credits per hour and only elite bigger ships (python/anaconda/clipper) pose any threat. Although fighting an elite clipper with my viper is mostly a drag: get shields down, pick off a few % of hull, fly away to recharge your own shields then repeat that for 15 minutes until enemy is dead. More economical to go for the <elite big ships, which you can kill without backing off.
I haven't tried trading (which seems to be the thing you have to do to get enough money to buy most of the ships), when the combat feels like cookie clicker in space, i can't imagine how boring trading would be.

I have something like 7 bodies first discovered by me in the whole vast galaxy.

Rare goods trading is a good way to pick up some serious money. The big ships are incredibly expensive, and the only way to get them is trading. The income balancing is at a very poor state for now (the designs are for a very differnt balance).

Sweet. Did you take a high-res pic, and could you share it?tsubaki_sanjuro wrote:QUOTE (tsubaki_sanjuro @ Mar 24 2015, 04:11 AM) agri found a protostar with 0.017 solar masses today

I've finally made Federal ensign, and the Feds are friendly to me. A lot of black ops were needed...

Things are just accelerating too. The reveal of what is coming in Powerplay looked really good.
