I'm with juckto on Sy requiring a techrock (any techrock, like GT research station)

If you want to push a techbase, you can push a garrison.

Brood is there honestly more than 10 people who know how to shoot down missiles? I wouldn't waste time lowering missile size, I'm pretty sure I could still shoot down a qf if it moved at the speed those xrms do.

HK 1 is a pathetic excuse for a missile, forget shooting it down, its more then easy enough to spoof and dodge (or hide behind a rock/base), I would say make HK 1 more ecm resistant and faster.

The huge advantage lancer has over the missiles is that it is fast and missiles are slow, if you are attacked by a non-rix destroyer using HK you have more then enough time to just walk behind the nearest asteroid, that is also if cm1 doesnt spoof it so easily as well. Doesn't matter if you have cm3 or not though your not going to spoof a lancer bullet and good luck finding a rock in the time it takes for the destroyer to fire and the bullet to reach you.

This is all good.

I also like the old style SC with slow firing rate and more damage / hit... but that is mostly cosmetics.

Wasn't there at some point discussion of removing corvettes and replacing them with gunships in the SY tree?

Well, they had a poll a range of suggested sy styles, a few options were very close in the end. I don't know if the plan is to stick with this option and tweak it for a bit and if it doesn't work move onto the next one, or move onto the next one see how that goes, then move onto the next, then go back to which ever worked best.

Or you could stop trying to balance cores around retard high/high money settings
maybe next you'll try to buff figbombers so you can bomb and defend against figbombers - with a figbomber - better in 1v1 games

try med/med or maybe even medlow/medlow and see how many people feel like rushing caps
and if it's still an issue
THEN you're entitled to an opinion

In response to the concern about SY payday bonus - I feel that is important to keep it, as it has solved the problem of being incapable of producing any caps if the enemy can keep you from mining, but I don't feel that in general it makes SY invulnerable to miner O: after all, you don't see cruiser squadrons from a team that can't mine. However, having the same payday bonus for each faction isn't necessarily ideal, so it's worth looking into how that ought to be adjusted. If Belts and IC SY are too powerful, then perhaps that's where we should look first, rather than removing variety like not having to research light class.

I think the original plan was to try one style, then move on to the next, but I haven't heard any calls for SY style to change to one of the other proposals, so I figure Spidey and Xer are thinking that the current SY is working pretty well and just needs a few tweaks.

SY makes alleg not fun. Looking at corvs, you only need 1 out of 3 players to be a mediocre pilot. The other two can be ryjamsan and bouwman. Since the corv is the most used ship, we can use that as an average and say that SY on average removes 66% of the need to be a skilled player, since only 33% of your team needs to know how to fly a cap to be successful.

Why are we dumbing this game down? I could remove the years of experience I have, come back as a 0, and sit in a turret with a decent idea of how to lead shots. Just because I can point and click, I can be useful defending something.

SY is and always will be the voob's solution. You have players that $#@!ing suck? Put them in a capship. Wow look at that my team has now become a proverbial juggernaut, because the other team has to now work that much harder to stop my team of super-tards.

It really feels like CC is pushing the death of expansion.
