I can report that Avast no longer has any problems with ASGS

AVG 9.0 free works with allegiance, no virus, no firewall troubles.

uninstall avg 8.5, install 9.0.

I tried it....
It didn't work.
Here's what I did:
Updated AVG, rebooted, went to folder options, let hidden operational files and folders be shown, added this to the exceptions list: C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Local\Xenocode (Using vista), added the allegiance folder to the exceptions, started alleg, failed to connect to server.

$#@! you Microsoft....

I solved this error by un-installing avast! `4
