I've seen a fair few AB games recently, much to my delight.

They tend to be pretty cool.

I'm sorry to tell you this but Brood, Kap and Nuke are in fact, better players than H_mallow, whorez (??? lol), crazedbomber (???), gui (flying like, maybe not so much on command terms).

I don't mean to brag but I believe SysX is the top ranked squad atm, why do you think that is? because of the players right? so if brood, kap and nuke are not that good, who do you think is the quality that make us win? (No, stop looking at me, I know what you're thinking , but it isn't me either)

And, for that matter, you should hold your horses until the squad rankings are released. A matter of days, now, pending action TE's end of things. Perhaps SysX will be top. Will you humbly withdraw if that is the case?

Which video, the one vs ACE? well what's the matter can't 2 people make a mistake once or twice? we won anyway and that's all that matters in the end.

Also I didn't say I believe alleg skill is the ultimate rater, it doesn't matter to me if on the paper SysX isn't at the top we ARE at the top right now, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next week, maybe not in December but right now we are it doesn't matter if allegskill says we are the bottom or the top, I was just saying that I consider some players of my squad being better than others mentioned and since we are at the top right now, it makes sense that allegskill ranks them higher? I don't know, makes sense to me.

I'm certain that you believe your players to be valuable. After all, when we get four ACE players on the same team during a PuG, cool things start to happen. A good example of this would be my walking a bomber 6k across a sector (with a carrier and Grav as comm) vs Bios heavy ints to kill an exp. If the ACEs hadn't been there, the whole thing would've fallen flat on it's face. This feat is supposedly 'impossible'.

What does this mean? Does it mean that ACE is the best squad? No. What it means is that you're far more likely to succeed when playing with people you know. If you gang up with a bunch of SysXs, things will automagically get better. Consequently, you will assess the action of your squaddies (both in the @ sense and the 'wing' sense) as being more skilled than average.

AllegSkill doesn't have this problem. Cold, hard mathematics. Despite your misgivings, it is a mature and well thought out system. It was developed by people who's intelligence and balance exceeds that of anyone I've met in this community. I'm just the bloke who pressed the buttons and was militant enough to pursue a particular problem.

Despite what you might think, your squad mates aren't as good at winning games as you're currently asserting. AllegSkill has no heart, no soul, no friends and certainly no preference. AllegSkill is not only considering peoples' skill (or, more technically, PERFORMANCE - 'skill' is used to make it easier for people to understand) across select games. It considers it across all games played, regarless of whether you were there or not. It sees everything you didn't, not a selective window on all games played.

Further to this, Buyo, can you give me an example of another game that uses AllegSkill? I'll give you a hint. Replace 'Alleg' with 'True'. Count the number of games using the system and get back to me.

Finally, when I first began to challenge the simplicity of Elo and Helo, what did I do? Did I sit around and moan endlessly about it? Sure, I was banned from the fora for a few days as a result of posting 'CLUSTER$#@!' with a few more spaces than was desirable. Other than that, I got involved with providing a real-world solution. The most notable feature of the real-world solution that resulted is that it isn't one which makes my friends look good. Whilst nepotism is a wonderful drug, we have no time for that in my camp.

Your suggested rank modifications and/or complaints revolve around a few players you know personally. Such assertions have no place is a system which is supposed to treat everyone equally.

Closing statement: Do I miss being ranked 15th in the community? Yes. Did I know, using a little bit of SCIENCE, how to get ranked 15th in the community? Yes. Do I think AllegSkill is broken? No.

It's doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Woaaaaa woaaaaa, haha chill there, not insulting or trying to make less your or anyone else ranking system, it doesn't matter to me if alleg skill or trueskill or whateverskill is used by the whole world, I was just saying what I think, no need to write the whole thing for me to see, I read the wiki and stuff, I wasn't saying it's BAD either, I was just saying what I think about my people from my squad in relation with the system we use to rate, do I think it's good? well looks good to me, do I think it's the ULTIMATE ranker? no, because well... I don't know I think it doesn't take into account many things but it's still good.

SysX is the top squad. Contingent on me showing up at squad games.

Its no secret the only reason PK won last years final game was because I was banned. Or RT won the last one because I forgot about the game. SysX owns the best of the top squads easy and handily when I play.

A player in the right place doing the right thing that the enemy does not expect wins wars! But of course, Allegskill sez I suxxorz!
