A better generalisation would be "YOU VET'S FLY AROUND LIKE YOU GOT TURTLE HEAD" would be much more accurate description of some of our vets. /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" />Deschain wrote:QUOTE (Deschain @ Jun 23 2007, 03:20 PM) This generalisation made me giggle.
Why is the community rotten
Hello darkpriest
i´m saddened by your decision of leaving, i suggest you give us a try again. All the people on this thread are good people, and most of the community as them.
let me tell you something: i cannot believe you are a 15 year vet gamer, does that mean that you are 15 years old, or that you´ve been playing games for 15 years? because anyone who has played online games that long KNOWS FOR SURE that as a newbie he will get responses of 99% idiots who say i rock, you don´t, and 1% friendly goodwilling people, who will give a $#@! of how you develop here. your attitude also influences, and your interest in learning. Always respecting people, of course, because this is not life, people have other things to worry about, and not everyone drinks tea at 4:00.
let me tell you an example: yesterday we had the biggest contrast in newcomers, two newcomers who read the academy, ask questions, do what they are told AND help the game (but help in a truely awesome way, in fact i couldn´t believe that they did, both revir and whatanewb), which got FULL support from the community in no time, AND the contrasting average noob who roxx at starcraft (apollo69 or something like that), who got bashed and probably won´t recover his reputation on this community for several big mistakes, like stealing a bomber (i didn´t want him to have it, he spammed me when i was going to give it to someone else), going to the place he shouldn´t have and lost an important sector because i couldn´t afford another one. not to mention he didn´t even succeeded in what he was proposing, and took 4 experienced players with him. after that he stopped donating, which promptly got him booted.
you seem to have the attitude of the first two, but really, generalizing is not the way to go. if you are apollo, well, good bye, but if you are not, and are willing to learn, you will ignore the stupid people and focus on being better. i suggest you play on the main servers, otherwise you will not learn a lot

Classifiable up to Trolleomorphism.

Finally. I thought I would never learn what the meaning of the prefixes + and * is. Thanks BV. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Some interesting facts i've seen: over the past few days I have been playing 4-5 hours a day, not all on prime time either. NOBODY ever ignored a newbie's reasonable question, and all the questions are generally answered good. NO newbies ever never got on TS and ask any question, for I am on for as long as i play. I dont' know about newbie servers but I am sure that no question got ignored on smaller servers, too.
So where do all these kind of post come from? Funny thing is I never see these nicks online, those who complains about the community. This is the most helpful community I've never meet, from 15+ game I play right now.
With that said, I am assuming all the newbies that complains about community are PM someone in game who doesn't answer questions, or they all play on newbie servers. If they play on newbie server and set the rank to "nov only", then it is not the community's problem that we can't answer questions. How do you expect someone from a NOVICE server that is intended for NEW people to answer your questions? They are new people, too.
Sorry if I sound harsh, but I really don't see the point here. TRY ASKING ON MAIN SERVER AND SEE IF ONE LOGICAL QUESTION CAN GET IGNORED.
darkpriest, if you stay, you will find a much helpful community when you go on the main server. True, there are people that will go "STFU newb" and ignore you, but most people will be helpful. You can never ever find a entirily helpful community on the internet. However how the general crowd is, there are always people who stood out in a bad way.
Wish you luck in whatever what you choose to do.

Now at least this time, we don't have people say "bye" to the community and keep posting arguing poings.
