beauty wrote:QUOTE (beauty @ Jul 20 2006, 10:42 AM) I personally have gotten booted a lot.. And lot of the early boots I thought were unjustified. I have relaxed and now understand why was booted, but it really did nothing for my self-esteem or my view of the community beck then.

A couple of points.

1) Getting booted sucks. Period. Nothing, really, to make you feel better.
2) Commanders can boot, basically, whenever they feel like it. Look for commanders you like to fly with and who don't boot you.
3) When you are booted ... rejoin under a different callsign and joing the other team.
The first time you setup the second callsign, especially as a new player, it is a pain. Once you have it you can just jump in and keep playing and it takes like 1 minute.

As a general peice of advice. I would *strongly* encourage you and your friend to join @Cadet if you haven't already. You will meet a bunch of other players and feel like part of the community. Then when you are booted it is once jerk rather than feeling like the whole community is against you.

If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen. Most commanders won't notice you unless you make a point of being noticed. Spamming shoot the commander during the commanders tirade will get you noticed. Not donanting will get you noticed. Moving the refer to build at home will get you noticed. Racing miners to the enemys home will get you noticed. Requesting a bomb while your tac get bombed will get you noticed. Get your 3 callsigns setup and stop complaining.

* SAID IN AN ANGRY VOICE *

IT'S AGAINST THE GOD DAMN SPIRIT OF THE $#@!ING GAME IF NOT THE ROC. BEING COMM DOES NOT MEAN YOUR GOD AND YOUR "FUN" DOESN'T INCLUDE THE RIGHT TO BOOT SOMEONE FOR PISSING YOU OFF.

EXAMPLE : I'M GOING TO FORUM BOOT YOU. HE MOVED MY EMOTICONS THAT'S WHY I BOOTED HIM. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Ok some comms think this makes them better since some sports coach did it to them. They are wrong since screaming wont make my ship fly faster unlike some fat, red faced goober screaming at me which just might.

Some do it for maturity issues. Personal/chronological growth will fix this a messy time intensive process. However some personal admin attention in the form of bans goes a long way to speeding things up.

Save the I just got banned rant. GOOD did you learn anything? No. Well at least I get xxxx minutes of your screaming/booting tirades ~4.

Yes. Welcome to maturity there are tons of benefits such as people start liking and respecting YOU and not just tolerate you for your gaming abilities.

I wasn't there but if Buji wasn't spamming VC then absolutely no way in Hell did Buji deserve a boot. Teammate gives comm business then deal by !mute not boot. Boot for spam not slam. I sound like Jessie Jackson

Buji
Pook/Thal/@Alleg do a Yeoman's job of being everyone's Mommy, Daddy, and Uncles.

Now if TigerEye (@alleg) didn't get out the ban stick there was no rule violation since Tiger is a righteous fellow.

Actually a player arguing with the com can destroy team moral and cohesion. I don't support the wholesale booting of players, but sometimes it can be for the best. !Mute is not always enough.

Buji, my advice would be, if you get booted, work out why you were booted and if you conclude that maybe the boot was justified try not to do it again and if the boot was unjustified then don't play for that com again.

Sure Raveen I get your point and agree. "Spam vs Slam" didn't say it nearly as well as you.

A single VC of "shoot the commander" isn't a reason to boot. Once again I was not present but it appears the details aren't in question.

Also while frustrating Raveen's advice is best/only option currently. * shrug *

I completely disagree with this. In fact, I disagree with the whole post... I'm just going to point this part out though.

Imagine that you are a teacher. You ask the class to do something and one of the students stands up and says "No, $#@! you! I'm going to do THIS". Do you kick the student out of class? Hell yes.

I can't believe people stand up for the idiots that get booted from games. Since early June (When I got back) I have seen at least 40 or 50 people booted from the game. How many were bull@#(! boots? ONE. Night thought it would be funny to do something to DD so he booted him.

There are times where I think that commanders are overly nice. I can remember a couple times where I was PMing the comm begging him to boot the player.

if you bitch, talk back, insult or backseat comm, expect to be booted.

One could notice that I'm often guilty of all of the above, which I am, but if (when) a comm boots me, I dont rant about it because I know he was right. It's a risk I agree to take when I start bitching at the comm.

I have only been booted twice.
I should have been booted many more times(I have done lots of stupid things that hurt the team)
