Also, I've been pimping my viper for a while, it's pretty effective in taking down anything I've been able to find camping nav points. Tried one of those 150k assassination missions, but that anaconda was too much for my ship to handle (one blast and i was down to 70% hull).
I sure hope they add more varied combat scenarios soon.

Yeah, hopefully there's some point to the 4man wings. As it is right now, other than the odd anaconda I really haven't felt like I need backup. I'll add you tomorrow mr bucket.

It is very slow and the fighting looks crappy.
Each to their own. The feel of flying and fighting the ships is utterly amazing.
What is missing is permanent NPCs. That makes interaction with the universe a little weird, but there's plenty of greatness already.

It is Extremely hard to find places that give good missions.
I'm kinda bored of killing pirates with small bounties.
You have a K-scanner right? Some resource extraction sites are good hunting grounds, as are nav-beacons (the truck-stops of Elite). For more interesting (IMO) stuff, look to the galnet news, find a warzone and sign up. After the 1.1 update, the bounties in the combatzones are starting to be worth while, especially if you accept missions on top of that.

Game gets repetitive really quickly plus you cant do a great deal to affect the universe... Wish they went with either pure single player or pure MMO type game instead they have something in the middle. I had high hopes for this even bought in during the alpha.
There is a common misperception in new players that there are 'better' weapons, there are not. One small multi-cannon is the same as all small multi-cannons, the rating varied with size and mounting only. In beta there used to be variants or different weapons, but these were removed.
So, if you have a size one gimballed multi-cannon, you already have the best size one gimballed multi-cannon that money can buy, lookin for better is wasting your time.
Is this true? The best gimballed multicannon for the viper is actually like 14k? Seems idiotic that they wouldn't have higher class weapons available. What's the point in making money then?

Hmm... ok. A basic 2km range k-scanner only costs about 13,000 cr. One medium bounty, or a handful of small ones will get you the money. You may have to go looking for a large pop industrial or high tech economy to find one though.
