Shizoku wrote:QUOTE (Shizoku @ Jan 24 2015, 12:13 PM) Well I have 100k, I made pretty much all of it tonight in like 5 hours. One antipirate mission was like 25k and on the way to drop it off I was interdicted by a guy flying a dropship who gave me 35k bounty the rest were little small fries.
Viper is 145 correct?
Stock viper isn't much fun. I recommend pimping the sidewinder (or an Eagle) until it's worth about 250k before making the switch. You get practically full value when trading the ship in (90% I think) so you can do that quite freely.
I had a blast in Beta by building a killer sidewinder. Fixed beam laser and gimbaled multicannon. Grade A components, whichever armour upgrade you prefer.

I got into the wrong part of the galaxy and through a series of unfortunate events, lost about 40k last night. So I returned to where I was actually doing well bounty hunting and dropped the rest of the cash on upgrades for the sidewinder. Mostly because I haven't been able to find a place that sells the viper yet, but it's good to know resale on parts is fairly high.
Shiz you started out not liking this game it sounded like, but now you seem pretty hooked -- recommended?
IDK why I'm so fence-sitty on this one. I just see a lot of "Mile wide and inch deep" comments, but it sounds like there's plenty to do if people are putting in 100's of hours. I also don't mind it if it's not 100% action 100% of the time -- I sometimes really dig slower-paced games. I just don't know! I wish it was cheaper...

I very rarely, if ever, pay full price for games. Between steam sales, torrenting I just don't have to. This one I did purchase for full price, so I wanted to immediately enjoy the game, and I didn't.
It's pretty deep, it requires a lot of patience and has a fairly substantial learning curve. I'm about 15hours into it right now, quite enjoying it. I definitely wouldn't recommend this game for everyone, but people who enjoy flight sim games or civilization would probably enjoy the game.
I haven't even touched any of the multiplayer elements yet, so could be even better than what I'm currently experiencing.
The pacing, you can't really just sit down and play for 20min. It has the same effect where I just lose track of time playing it, all of a sudden I'll look at the clock and "Oh it's 3am, crap."
I suppose it's a pretty big stretch to compare it to civ . That one aspect just reminded me a lot of it.
tbh getting a viper asap isnt that bad a call, it makes more sense to put money into that rather than upgrading an eagle or sidewinder. if you find a system that had a black market on an outpost you can make a lot of money very quickly.

Yeah, I found one for sale and bought it a couple days ago. Right out of the box it was significantly better than the sidewinder (other than the stock pulse lasers).
Roughly 150k worth of upgrades and it's a dream to fly, rapes face and still massive amounts of room to grow.
