The world needs a devil's advocate though to make us question and challenge our own beliefs. How else do we change and refine our position on a subject?

Peace xxx.
I think what Dome is really asking is

"How do I deal with an individual that
A) Won't shut up

B) Will never question or challenge thier own beliefs

and

C) Resorts to personal attacks when others challenge thier own beliefs?

But all 3 of these are part of the human condition and I realize I am sometimes also guilty, despite what I might tell myself... Still these are valid questions.s

Still want to challenge him here though. Vote stays the same.
oooook I just edited OP to make it more clear.

OK your re-wording has convinced me to change my vote to yes. But full disclosure- I am mostly motivated by the prospects of Elzam and Globey trolling each other.

It might end up something like this:

I must disagree with this Dome.
Even if I am on the complete opposite of globe's political spectrum, censoring someone who does not agree with your political beliefs, is not the riht thing to do.
His posts do bring me to the point of wanting to ban him, his complete disregard for facts- supported conversation drive me up the wall.
BUT, it is his right to speak his opinion however wrong, imo that might be.

When people double down repeating garbage, even when they are shown to be wrong merely reinforces the position of the person rebutting their arguments.

Donald Trump looks increasingly unstable, detached from reality and even borderline insane to most normal people. His supporters are looking increasingly ridiculous by associating themselves with his nuttiness. He is claiming "Fake News" when reports are clearly factual and his interpretation of them is the only fake bit. When he repeats the funky smelling lies that Fox pedals, verbatim, and then rants at CNN & MSNBC for showing them up as partisan bull@#(! he destroys his credibility on everything.

People like Globey show themselves up and undermine their position on a million internet forums around the world. They show that they can't be reasoned with and by extension, their stance is probably to be considered unreasonable and based on spurious facts - on everything. They kill their own arguments, and by not letting them get away with their crap, by being prepared to face up to buffoonery with actual facts we don't let them poison the Well with partisan nonsense, but rather make the audience draw their own conclusion to their veracity and which side of the argument they want to be associated with.

It'd be nice if Globey could learn comprehensible English rather than Jimmy style nonsense but apart from that there are enough people calling him on his bull@#(! that I don't particularly worry.

If it's really Globy, and not some funny roommate with access to his account (or an ip from - say - Russia), I can hardly understand his arguments. Sometimes I have the feeling not to contribute in the more "serious" discussions in offtopic due to the derailment. But derailments happens a lot of times in virtually the whole history of this forum.

I do not feel personally attacked by Globy. I do believe he's trying to find the border or edges of a discussion.

And yes, there are more "characters" here with their own "unique" personalities.

Limited access means a mod has to approve a post before it's actually posted? I think it will cause much debate in the mod forum.

Is Globy a troll? I think so. Or he has issues expressing himself. Not really sure.

I agree 100% with Ducky's first post.

Grow some thicker skin and deal with it.
The Trump thread has been one of the most entertaining reads on these boards in a few years.
Why would you want to ruin that by banning Globey from off-topic?

I have had a quite a few long discussions sitting in NOAT with Globey over these past 16 years.
In case you are unaware, Globe is Vietnamese so English is not his mother tongue.
In his defense, as a poor Vietnamese immigrant he made it to America.
He prospered as an immigrant and if I am not mistaken, career wise, he has done quite well for himself.
He got married (now divorced), has 2 kids that are getting well educated (which I believe he is paying for) and is living the American dream.
Yes he is right wing but many business owners in America are.
