Hi,
History: I hope my surfing didn't screw up your game totally. Atleast the booting got that one sorted in the end
I would go to the newbie games gladly for starters.. It's just that it is bit difficult to play this game alone. I might be a miner in the next game..
Anyway happy hunting! Might drop into the game 3rd time sometime soon.. And I'll stay away from you =)
Br,
JohnBarman

Nice to have you on the forum John. Just keep at it.
Honestly playing on the main is the best way to learn. Reading the wiki doesn't hurt either.
You may want to check out the HTT entry.

One of my favorite stories is that of a newbie trying to use disruptors to shoot down a friendly stealth bomber.
Of course, when I was a newbie, I refused to teleport in base. I would just boost from base to base. I was also convinced that there was a missile that could drop minefields.

Hi John and welcome to Allegiance; I'm glad to see you're still with us
As I'm sure you learned from this incident, reading the chat is damn important in this game. You may want to stick to the "attack" wing for a while to reduce the amount of information overflow (at least that's what I did when starting out), but do try to keep track of what people say.
Oh and
make a hider so that you can rejoin a game if you get booted

I tried to solo an assault cap ship in a scout 2 weeks ago...I failed
It's that kind of stuff that puts you on the fast track to learning though. If you don't make mistakes, you don't learn

John,
Just in case it wasn't clear... History has no problem with flying with you per se. It's just in this particular instance, he was trying to hide from the enemy (they didn't see him - or in the game vernacular - he wasn't eyed). Since the ship he was flying is an end-game ship that requires stealth to get into place (and costs money

), he needed to be sure he remained uneyed as long as possible.
You knew where he was, because the game will relay that information to players on the same team, but the other team did not. You were being followed by the enemy in the hopes that by following you, you would take him towards History so that they could spot him. In this case History had to boot you because it was a critical point in the game. It wasn't personal and I'm sure History would be happy to fly with you again.
We all make that or similar mistakes when we're learning. No big deal. And as others have stated, you're permitted two additional call signs or "hider nicks". When booted, you can just log back in using one of the hiders and you'll be able to join the game again.

He may not have seen this, but he's flying again at least. I saw him in a game earlier today, so for now at least he's going to play.

he's also really annoying with that low sig scout of his. apparently history scared him into only flying low sig scouts...eying my bomb and htt runs

Logged on tonight and there were about 5 newbies, including John, who were flying. They were all nice newbies, asking sensible questions & occasionally doing good things! I got one of them addicted to probing he rocks! A shame the other team didn't build a miner for like half an hour

I picked a good day to log on with my @help tag.
JohnBarman said something like this earlier - "I must be pro now as I have been booted 4 times!" poor guy. At least he's taking it in good spirits
