Don't worry about mapping every single target (object) key, you'll only need a couple. Play a few more games and figure out which you think you'll need the most and start from there. There's no urgency to get a perfect keymap straight away. Spinoza listed a few good places to start.Enyx wrote:QUOTE (Enyx @ Mar 7 2010, 09:19 PM) I've installed CortUi and the variant of TE's chatpack.
I already had WASD for control and q and e for rolling, but i felt i was getting it over my head when i had to start remapping the target ennemy, hostile, nearest, etc.
I guess i'll mess around with the configs.
Thx
By the way, is there only 800x600 ? Everything in game look blured since i have a huge widescreen...
Resolution can be changed in the esc->graphic device menu, which only makes a difference while you're flying (the lobby etc will always be 800x600). I think widescreens have more options available.

Fighter, bomber, base, constructor and miners for enemies. Same + pods for friendlies.TurkeyXIII wrote:QUOTE (TurkeyXIII @ Mar 7 2010, 01:20 PM) Don't worry about mapping every single target (object) key, you'll only need a couple.
After R5 issue with turrets i also mapped nearest aleph, but still don't use it.
ACS grad since 2nd Feb. 2010My main suggestion:
Map Target enemy base and Target enemy bomber to an unmodified key, and the Target friendly versions to the same key + shift. Target friendly tends to be less time-critical than target enemy.
Also, since I have some alt modifiers, I use an app to switch tab and F12 so I don't accidentally alt-tab out of Allegiance.

I still have the default cdt mappings and have never had a problem.
Experiment with a few real games and see what you actually use key wise. If you find yourself using "target enemy" all the time, but not "target enemy base" get rid of it. Center target is important. Honestly it all comes down to personal preference. What works for you might not for me, and what works for me doesn't work for Weed. And theres nothing wrong with that.

Since it works now with R5, I'd like to suggest you find a key for rear view. It's a little easier to trick an enemy into hitting your prox when you can look behind you. Just don't forget you're holding down the key and ram a rock.

And also remember that any changes you make are going to feel awkward at first, so be sure to give it a chance for a while if it seems practical, and don't give up on it because it isn't "fluid" from the start. Give yourself a chance to adjust to the changes, and don't get caught up in making changes constantly or you will never adapt to the changes.
