Still keeping me in this game Shibbster, thanks! :iluv:

Edit: I am pro this, esp. if it goes on for/starts in several years. I'm intending on moving to NZ after I get my degrees pending the job market. :D

If you did have an Asian server, first and foremost you'd have to port the game to languages they would need and keyboard support etc. In my DoD clan we get Asian players all the time, and they are big on using hax (especially reskinning games to give them accuracy etc eg: making all enemies glow bright blue etc) and not so big on using English. They are also a big fan of the (usually written in flawless English mind you) "I don't understand what you a saying".

Now an Australasian server (Oz/NZ/Singapore etc) would work.

I've actually been checking it out during the last month for lols since I'm about to take up a position as a network/system admin/IT Manager.

NetWars.com.au would set up and let us operate an Alleg server for around $140 per month (prob a few actual Alleg "servers" on one box. NetWars is in Sydney (and Melb) and my pings from the ACT to Syd are usually around 1-5 when playing DoD:S and CS:S. NZ players usually pull around 40-80 pings at worst. So get 20 people interested and for $10 or so a month we're in business.

Long term (ie: once I'm in control of the IT budget and purchasing etc) I know I'm going to be setting up a server somehow for weekend/night use on our network. If nothing else I'll let A/NZ players know when ever I have a public server up and running.

Oh - IMO, screw Internode and GS - do we want to advertise Alleg to all the script kiddies and l33t pwners out there? Last thing I want to hear on TS is "FULLY SICK! DID YOU SEE ME PWN THAT NOOB! OMFG HOW L33T AM I!!!!"

True enough.

I am 100% for this, and am willing to help finance it :iluv:

Its possible I will be getting a dedicated server for a new startup in a month or so.
If it comes to reality, I'd love to run an Alleg Server on it.

Cool. Where in Oz are you - might as well make this a co-ordinated effort :)

Could be a chicken-egg problem.

If you build it they will come?

I would just like to point out that allegiance uses ASCII and not unicode. (foerign players can't use their crazy characterrs)
