they had a free development tool (XNA GS) and now have a free 3D modeler.

Their business is in the XNA subscriptionsn, Xbox subscriptions and of course selling Xbox consoles and Zune. Everything needed to create games on these are free.
I get it.We dev the models, they hard code them to xbox games and MS makes all the profit.Them smart guys there at MS!
We don't need more Allegiance models. We need servers that don't lag. :o

I've never 3d modeled before but it's something I'd like to try some time.
Can you please enlighten me considering the differences between using Blender and trueSpace (or any other free but not GPLed modeler)? Is Blender so much harder to use? Does it have less functionalities? Generally, what is wrong (or not so good) about working with Blender?

blender uses keyboard shortcuts excessively, this means that its a pain to learn (you really need to go through some long tutorials before you get the feel of it), but the shortcuts can make it very quick once you've mastered it.

Speaking as someone who uses AutoCAD professionally, keyboard shortcuts are brilliant and well worth the time learning.
