What else do you do if no one comes to help after asking a number of times?

Quack, the people "undermining the commander" are not the people trying to be heroes. I'd rather take people that are at least being productive and criticizing me then those flying in circles or chasing scouts for 10 sectors in an int.

Think about games where the voobs actually work together. What is the deciding factor? The commander either has the respect of the audience or COMMANDS it. You can't do that with some asshat yapping on about how much you suck.
Not neccessarily. Heroes are still sorta working with the team but they're just stupid. Asshats are ones who are working against it.

The sad thing is, the hero syndrome currently affects players who have played this game for about a year, some a little bit more, some a little bit less, players who have had the time to go through cadet and learn the game, in theory atleast. It also affects certain players that are currently squadded.

I'm being vague on purpose here, because, for the intended purpose of this thread, it's best it remains a general "you all need to learn how to work together" rather then a "XXXX@tag, didn't your squad teach you how to camp? or how to defend a miner?" Since that's going to get this nowhere.

I believe part of this problem is coming from the fact that most of our resident badasses are MIA. I mean sure, I could go boot crazy, but nothing says you $#@!ing suck, you're doing this wrong, this is HOW you do it like a thorough bitching.

I look at the threads lately complaining about harshness and I laugh, I laugh because it's seriously funny. You think players are mean now? Try being a newbie when Agri, Ang, tmc, Serb, Night, Masta, Defi, Pico, Tallon, Shiz, Deng et $#@!in cetera, were in their prime and played nearly every day. Hell I even got cussed off by Pook, and that's because I though it would be funny to ram his scout. Oh, and believe me, I'm not ranting about the "good old days", I'm saying most of you new players need to grow a $#@!ing backbone, take some critisizm, and LRN2PLAY

That is a really silly argument. In fact I'm sure there's a name for it, but it escapes me.

"Honey! There's a fire in the kitchen!"

"Pft! That's nothing compared to the fire when I tried to deep-fry the turkey!"

You just have to ask yourself whether you want the game to grow or not. Because negative words have far more impact than positive ones, especially coming from 'veterans'.
