So do these parasites take over the minds of the crew like "invasion of the body snatchers?" Why the green fungus? Do they eat it? These are important questions for figuring out how to define their economy, tech, etc.

That'd pretty much force an opposing team to go sup as galving/bombing spec mines would be the only way to hurt their economy.

the green funghus is used to collect spatial radiation and use it as extra power for their engine. and they take over the minds like the guaould in stargate. there actually tiny bugs which find their way into a persons brain.

hmm, so heres my take of the situation, everything they build produces a small amount of HE, thy have no miners persay but an op could generate 200-100 a minute, their garrison generates 1000.
teles 100-50 and he extractors 300-500. normal cost to everything. extractors are the replacement to refs but can only build on he Rocks. in the expansion they get an a special buff with there station and shield hulls. instead of say 10% upgrade per research it's 20%. they would be much like Giga in the fact that they need to expand to conquer more.
this would need a lot of work to really hammer out the details. but essentially everything would generate funds, and all basic buildings would NOT be cheaper

nice /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
what res you making your textures at?
your faction's economy structure is a little similar to one i thought of a while ago, except that.
mine did have miners
all bases had negative income / minute (up keep cost) except for gar and "economy structures" which were lt bases that produced money.
the idea was you would need to build lots of he econ structures to expand, other wise you would soon run out of money as your bases would use it faster than you could mine. econ structures were cheap and easy to kill, so you would also have to defend them from the enemy along with your miners (which were your main source of income as usual.. i think i still have my concept core somewhere which i was going to use for testing new random tech and ship ideas..., oh well, lets see how minerless plays out /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />).
